  1. Aside from the mistake our defence played well last night. Absorbed a huge amount of pressure. We played direct, but did not do so effectively. Fleetwood had 20 shots at goal and double our passes. Our shots on goal total was 7. I'm lost for something to say to turn this around. I'm not sure if we can short term sign someone in midfield?
  2. This is a difficult league with high standards. We competed well with the top of L2 in Cup competitions. To exemplify, Donnelly who played LCD for us last season (poorly) is now at Dundee in the SPL.
  3. I'm in the now. Fleetwood have enough to get out of trouble even with disadvantage. I don't know what's been going on, but you need talent to play at the level they did tonight. It's not a flash in the pan. They genuinely were a good side tonight.
  4. Fleetwood looked on a par to Middlesbrough to me. Well above our level. Hence I don't get the booing of our players.
  5. I simply don't agree. They are a better side than Lincoln last weekend. You can see this not from what PV are doing, but the pace they can play the ball round at with accuracy. As I say, I don't know what's been going on - but I guess liquidity issues affecting morale don't help.
  6. I felt a sense of greater jeopardy tonight. Fleetwood are a good side. I don't know why they are second bottom. The one thing I can take is the central defence played well v Fleetwood until eventually making a mistake caused by the incessant pressure.
  7. She and hubby are well past retirement age. I know you can't carry on at the work level you've had most of you're life. For example in my case, eye tiredness. Plus change coming in both their and my world - artifical intelligence. You have to be prepared to go again or decide now is the time to leave. Finally, depending on family, it can be a good time to sell up and distribute profit from sale etc.
  8. Another thing I think went badly wrong tonight. Aside from surrendering too much possession in general. But individual players when on the ball failed to buy fouls and chose to play balls that were not on. Getting fouled would have allowed getting up the pitch, time running down and disruption of the flow of the opponent's game.
  9. I would have changed tactics and been prepared to play out from the back when it was clear what Fleetwood were doing in overloading the attack. To be fair to Darren Moore, he brought on Loft to hold the ball up, but it didn't work. The stuff going up to the front wasn't good enough and the players were not organised as an attacking unit. Before we have too much of a go at Moore. He nearly got a win v a much better squad.
  10. Darren Moore had us playing direct because of the errors playing out from the back on Saturday. That was OK, first half, but we were surrendering too much possession against a good team. In the second half, we carried on doing that, but after subs, the players we brought on just didn't have the resilience in midfield. The whole game was being played in and around our box. We did get one good chance and fluffed it. In the end the defence, that played well, made a mistake and they scored. The second felt inevitable and came near the end. The players that came on second half are not good enough I'm afraid. But we didn't lose!
  11. I know I'm boring and we have created chances. We need to retain the ball better. They're dangerous. Double sub by them coming up.
  12. Done well. But going for the killer pass we are giving the ball away too much and they are much better than their league position. They have had nearly 100 passes more than us. Need to keep it better.
  13. I didn't think Gore was ready for L1 men's football. In his first game he started like Paul Scholes, but then the opposition denied him time on the ball and got physical. Outcome he kept giving the ball away. Went off on the hour, which I read as that's the min time we must give him and the team needed more than he could offer. He would surely have to improve markedly to play again. Has he gone home or is he injured?
  14. Yes, I think that's true. But the others including Wilson, Chislett and Loft need to start scoring. If they were we would put him less up the ladder and give him more time.
  15. I agree there is risk, but I think he needs to get good portions of time when possible. My inspiration is Liverpool on Sunday!
  16. Garrity seems to need to score from the edge of the box or arriving late closer in. He may be able to play striker / target man but to me that wastes his main assets of mobility and penetration.
  17. I thought Dipepa showed more in his time v Lincoln. For example, he didn't look physically put of his depth. I am not saying he is ready to lead the line in a L1 relegation battle, but I think some good coaching has got into him.
  18. The players don't need any telling. We need to win this game FULL STOP.
  19. They didn't ease off at all. They worked their socks off because they are a good defensive team. You could see the players they took off were exhausted from the Lorne Street stand. Their limitation is they don't have enough strike power. This really frustrates me. I am looking at the Sky stats for the game and they just do not support the whining going on in this forum. Our problem in that game was giving away a stupid goal and then needing time to get over the shock. But during the second half we looked like we could get an equaliser. All Lincoln's chances on target at our goal were self inflicted mistakes - they had almost nothing else.
  20. The stats say we had the better of the game v Lincoln. We lost because we blew our brains out in stupid moments. Should have been a 0-0 game with us showing more shots on target etc. Other than stupidity we defended OK. Someone / some people headed the ball 26 times which showed improved capability in the air. All this with team shot of confidence. Win v Fleetwood that will come back to a normal level. We will be ready to fight to stay up and have good players coming back and getting fitter.
  21. This is my prediction. Win 1-0, Smith header from a corner.
  22. We are finding that in L1 we are pushing the upper limits of what the club can achieve with it's present level of support. Therefore it's a struggle. Bringing young players through to improve the squad or sell on for handsome profit is one way to step upwards. Another is increase support, but as we are seeing that is fixed about 9k tops presently and hard to shift positively. So to improve it is primarily about bringing youth players through to the first team.
  23. This is a crucial game. We need to get behind the team. I believe we can win the game and it seems we must with Derby away next week. We are at risk of a death spiral if we lose this one, but a win gives us enough to believe there are sufficient points there for us in March. I'm not seeing, as many suggest, that we were rubbish against Lincoln. Darren Moore's assessment post match is realistic. I really do think he's an intelligent and thoughtful manager with a great deal of experience. It may be enough with players coming back, it may not. There is a big difference in standard between L1 and L2. This team, with youngsters coming through, and some rebolstering, would 100% challenge to come straight back up if we do go down. We must find confidence on Tuesday and the fans must be behind the team no matter what happens on the pitch. It's the only way.
