  1. We provided Fleetwood with their first win in 3 months. We've lost to the three bottom teams in the league. Our generosity knows no bounds. Ah well I suppose we managed to beat the 4th bottom team 1-0. I guess someone at the club must have a beef with them.
  2. We should have stuffed them. Obviously can't give away stupid goals.
  3. The opposition - good ones anyway - mark up to leave Smith on the ball. If a team wants to play out from the back they have to involve half the team and those players have to be prepared to take the ball under pressure and move it between them. Because we are not good enough - we just go aimlessly side to side and then back to Ripley. He then goes long or we try to play out again and fail. It's off the scale dull to watch and off the scale tactically inefficient in winning games. Plus this whole way of playing is drilled with no alternatives. So I want something like 442, 433, 451 to replace. But I'm worried this sudden introduction late in the season - with Crosby orchestrating it - would go even worse. Can't do it for tomorrow against an upper mid table side. You come back to the reality that the manager is under pressure.
  4. The key to starting to improve is usually sort the defence out. Therefore, let me assume Lopata is a good signing. He needs to come straight into the side. A towering presence. Debra needs to play subject to fitness coming back. One more, is it time to risk Jones? At least he is left footed! Of course the above is in theory unwise. Too much change at once. But the defensive players have been conceding too many. What is in front of the defence needs to be able to defend, retain the ball and start forward movement. If Ojo is fit he should start. Fit the rest of the players around him. He will keep the ball and provide a platform. I don't understand what's wrong with Wilson. But he and Chislett are key to us improving going forward with Ojo behind. I think the rest of the regular players are better than they're showing. Except the central defenders I've dropped. In some cases I can't have a view on how good they are as I've not seen them enough or at all. On paper I thought our unavoidable loan replacements looked promising. But that hasn't gone well so far. As for the manager Crosby. He's a nice guy. I don't like criticising him game after game. But he is getting too much wrong. It has to stop one way or another. Most of all everyone needs to turn up and drain their soul with effort. The weather may be foul - another challenge. We do look in a worse state overall than perhaps I've been thinking. Doing basics right and working supremely hard is the only way up.
  5. There is always a decent pie and pint to be found in the area.
  6. We were getting absolutely murdered behind the wingbacks v Portsmouth. Somehow we only lost - controversially - near the end. So my view of this is that Crosby plays 3 centre halves to compensate for the weaknesses at wing back. There is no positive to be had. The wing backs are like poor wingers going forward. I have really had enough of this Crosby tripe. It's not hard to see what is happening. I believe at this moment we have good enough players to be comfortably in mid table. Ok, we have issues by losing good players going back to parent clubs and injuries up front. But the manager is there to design defence and attack that suits the players available. When I turn up on Tuesday, Crosby will make all the same mistakes again. And it's going to rain.
  7. My patience is not wearing thin at all on the owners, I can see arguments at DoF level but I'm OK, but to save the club from L2 Crosby has to go and be replaced by a successful experienced manager. Not without risk either. This is sensitive and high profile because it's football and in the public domain. But Carol needs to stay focused on what she would do with a manager failing to deliver objectives in Synectics Solutions. They have to be removed and replaced. It's tough, but that's the way it is.
  8. The bottom line is I expected us to go to Fleetwood and win. We have better players than they do. We lost. Summit is up at mill. Crosby.
  9. And so we are where it's at really. Stoke City managed to cost over £200 million - for some success in the PL and cups - to their owners. But now even owners of that magnitude can't continue. They are threatened with relegation to L1. Our owners are doing their best. They have a successful local business but there are much more limitations on their funding capacity. I think they've done a great job. Now they face a critical moment in my opinion. I think we will fall into a relegation battle if Crosby continues. My assessment is that a new experienced manager would do much better. But there is risk whatever they do. I think Tuesday is very difficult on it's own. It may get nasty with another turgid performance of playing the ball round going nowhere. Strangely, I was ok with the performance v Portsmouth. We tried sensibly but were outclassed. But I turn up expecting to beat Orient and if we are pathetic again I and many others will let rip disapproval.
  10. Many successful family businesses out there in the economy. Even been some in footie on Merseyside - Littlewoods. You have obviously researched Patrick's qualifications and work experience?
  11. You have a complete history of every player including clubs played for, appearances, goals. Some descriptive info on their stay at each as well including injuries etc. Therefore I know we have no crackpot signings. Some maybe getting an opportunity and needing to take it. Chislett definitely comes into that category and has done well.
  12. Well go down and draw out your Post Office savings and buy the club. But the elephant in the room is a failing manager. Carol is tolerating poor manager performance. Flitcroft is tolerating poor manager performance. We don't need to throw all the plates in the air. Just that needs to end. Carol is doing a brilliant job. Flitcroft has got a decent enough mixture of L1 level senior players and young players together. Their wiki shows previous clubs played for and none are improbable at PV. So stop turning one problem into a mass of problems. Bring in a new manager. Get the team playing properly. Stay up and reflect more widely in the summer. I'm deeply saddened to say this about Crosby. But he will leave in a reasonable way financially. He's had and will have again a good career in coaching.
  13. For me, the only person doing badly - whoops performing poorly, is the manager. He's got the team losing. The final demise of a manager is usually losing the players. That may have happened now.
  14. Just on this ethics thing. I know because I'm a specialist in ethical governance, fraud prevention, fraud investigation and all related fields. Carol with husband started up and developed the company Synectics Solutions which is dedicated to the prevention / detection of financial crime. A leading organisation in data analytics in these fields. 100% committed to high standards of ethical behaviour. So those challenging this dimension should go and get stuffed.
  15. The players we have are good enough at L1 level. The manager isn't. He needs to go unfortunately and before Tuesday. Need to bring in a proven experienced manager. We will then improve rapidly. We should be comfortable mid table and it's directly down to Crosby we are not. I accept players make mistakes like v Charlton but his team selections, subs and tactics have cost us a shed load of points.
  16. I'm hoping we have signed a good and big central defender. Might be a good idea to play him!
  17. Yes, I watched some of the least entertaining and frustrating football I have seen at Port Vale in 2023 since I started supporting in 1977. At the end of year I was considering stopping coming because this was deliberate. A belief that the right way to play is to endlessly play it across the back 5 and back to the keeper going precisely nowhere. Under both in-year managers. Saw a small improvement on this front and I thought better would come now. But it hasn't really, and now we are in crisis. Tuesday is going to be an awful night if we get more Crosby ball. The supporters are going to explode. He's boring and losing. More to the point this squad is good enough to finish mid table under someone competent.
  18. The scoreboard is a fixed asset depreciated over time. Crosby is a revenue cost.
  19. The board are responsible for the appointment of someone as important as the manager. It was decided to give Crosby a go. A likely consideration was financial including the expense for settlement of contract of the previous manager. It hasn't worked out. Urgent action now needed.
  20. I am OK with Flickers. I don't think we've had a bad window. I do think he has signed up a good enough squad. I do think he has done well with the youth team structures. But Crosby has not worked out. Must replace.
  21. I will be surprised in AC is in charge on Tuesday. There has to be a reason to believe he will improve results. There is no one thinks he will.
