I believe - and I might be wrong on this - we’ll be going 4.4.2 with Lowe & Ojo sitting, Garrity supporting Willo, and pace down the sides. So I really don’t understand why people are saying Chislett > Lowe because they are completely different players. At least it also feels like we’ve options off the bench - not exactly great ones admittedly, but options nonetheless. A Stoke mate of mine, we was as pessimistic about their plight as we are of ours, has seen Schumacher shuffling the pack largely at the expense of his footballing principles to resort to attritional football to essential ‘do what it takes’ to stay up. Whilst I still think it’s too late for us, I applaud Moore for (presumably) a similar approach.

So, a better balanced side, but the strapping on Clarke’s leg doesn’t exactly fill you with optimism that he’ll have a lot of minutes in him. The first half will be crucial today. Not to be a harbinger of doom, but Billy Bodin in playing, so not doubt we’ll be treated to the obligatory screamer he always seems to get against us.

I dunno. If you bet against Vale winning you’ve probably done alright over the last 100 odd games! Still, well done for finally showing up lads and a big shout to the 200 hardy VLF for their 350+ mile round trip to see….. ZERO goals. Cant wait for the next game.

Ok. I’m going to try and see the positives in that line up. I’m guessing it’s 4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1 with Garrity behind Wilson). Two wide men (Massey & Mighten) and two holding MF in Ojo and Lowe. Jones & Sang two more attacking FB’s. That looks a decent set-up and what we’ve all craved after the tedium of 3-5-2, right? However….. That back four looks unbelievably weak and there is not a hope in hell of keeping a clean sheet tonight. Jason Lowe in CM….need I say more….unless…… Jason Lowe at RB (assuming Sang is CM)….🫣 I don’t expect anything tonight. We will lose. However….and I repeat…. this is not on Moore! I get the furore about Chislet, but at the end of the day he’s an inferior version of Garrity, so who you going to go with, as you can’t have both in that system? So, pick the system to fit your best players I hear people cry. Well that’s fine but we’ve then got gaping holes elsewhere. In short, there are leaks springing up all over that there’s only one man to blame for that….and I think we all know who that is. So I applaud Moore for trying to find a winning formula, as much as it’s rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. And I sense those the ‘lucky’ few who’ve travelled are going to need a few pints of it come 10.00pm.
