  1. I’m really hoping we beat Barrow on Tuesday to guarantee promotion, but then also win at Northampton on Saturday to give you a chance of grabbing third spot. I’ve said before on here that I’d love Vale to go up, as long as we do too. Don’t want to be the merchant of doom though, but our record at Northampton is shocking. Whenever we’ve played there it’s been windy and we’ve been battered by a stronger team, like we were at Tranmere on Monday. Fingers crossed we do the business for you.

  2. Yeah let's ditch the system weve played all season, is familar for the players and that's got us 1 point off third and one of the best GD in the league, at the most crucial point of the season. Glad you're not in charge [emoji38]

  3. I'm as disappointed as the next man. Feel really despondent. But we have to try and be balanced. I've read Wilson getting slated, absolutely ridiculous. And bizarrely the Covolan sending off 43 games ago could be the reason we miss out ! Again a player who has been criticised regularly, strange that Conlon red v Walsall at home not mentioned. Every individual game has a moment of what if. If we miss out we miss out I'll be gutted as its a missed opportunity. I want to see the Hamil full of 4000 Derby and Wednesday not 84 Stevenage and 133 Sutton etc. But I don't think singling individuals is helpful. Benning another, he was poor yesterday but the whole team were collectively but people can't wait to dig him. Oh well onto the next fixtures where all we can do is sit and hope until the Monday

  8. load of cr*p - if you are that titsed off may be you should stay up Scotland - go support Inverness or someone. We like reading your posts BW but come on, we have lost two football matches with a team that is full of walking wounded coupled with a bench half made up of walking wounded. These guys are human you know. Im not a happy clapper, as disappointed as the next fan, but comeon guys lets all have a little perspective. 👍 Right Im going off to paint me fence - its therapy for me (so Mrs Hoppers tells me 🥴)

  9. Benning wasn’t injured in that game and wasn’t carrying an injury yesterday either. He’s filled in well to be fair to him and looked a lot more lively in games than he did in the early part of the season. But now Hussey and Gibbo are back then he shouldn’t play. Worralls been off form for the last handful of games as well. I just think we’ve ran out of steam at the wrong time. I don’t buy into some of the stick they’re getting on here, bottlers and stuff like that. It’s just knee jerk after the game reaction. I really hate the gloating that some fans do when things go wrong, the told you so mentality. I don’t understand why some people revel in us performing badly.

  10. Every team will have their own hard luck stories at the end of the season, for me after 46 games you finish where you deserve to.

  11. I know everyone is disappointed and probably more to do with the fact performance levels have dipped and the players look tired having put all the effort into grinding out some big wins rather than it's out of our own hands. The fact we have a rest now until a week on monday may help us and now exeter and Northampton have to deal with the pressure. Its quite possible we will win against newport as like us they are in poor form and we need to win and unlike walsall they do tend to concede alot of goals which I think is a defense we can exploit. We do tend to struggle against teams who just sit in as we have a lack of quality in midfield to break teams down, with alot of chances we make created by our centre forward Wilson. I for one have not lost the faith, let's see what the other teams do in the next few days and let's put a great performance in front if the sky cameras for our last home game.

  12. I know everyone is disappointed myself included. Injuries and the goalkeeping have been our down fall along with DCs terrible situation. We only have 5 players on 30 + games compared to FGR who have 12 . We really have done well considering the odds have been stacked against us. I just hope we can find a last final effort and get promoted.

  13. Absolute <ovf censored>. Taken 4 points off Mansfield. Taken 3 points off Bristol Rovers & all those bumming them for last week need to get a grip, it was one of the most even games I've seen this season. We were knocking for an equaliser most of the 2nd half & they've caught us on the break right at the end. We can beat anybody in this league on our day. Bar Walsall. Who have some kind of witchcraft hoodoo over us!

  15. Not sure why we didn't just win every game and have the league wrapped up in March. It would have been so much easier.

  16. If we miss out it’s not down to any individual, it’s a team game and they all take the responsibilities for Oldham away, Sutton away to name but two. As it stands, we keep going until the last minute.

  17. Find out which one and we’ll set the alarms off….🙊

  18. I thought yesterday we had really ran out of steam, the amount of games to catch up is starting to show and also a nervousness that’s been evident since Salford. We’ve been off it since that game despite wins against Oldham and Hartlepool covering the cracks to a degree. It was a massive let down with the crowd and occasion and in their cup final it was going to be tougher than their position suggests. That said both times they’ve been pretty poor opposition on the day and we’ve not laid a glove. First half I felt we had the best chances but second half we just died off, Benning had a mare certainly going forwards and even Proctor was ineffective. The bonus is Bristol Rovers are still behind us as they have a relatively routine couple of games left, Northampton have to host Exeter and travel to an in form Barrow so I do still think further twists will happen, it’s then about if we can take advantage of that, it could end up with a four way battle on the last day between us, Northampton, Bristol Rovers and Mansfield! I was really worked up after Rovers but oddly feel more at ease this morning, it being out our hands feels like a weight lifted in a bizarre way as gutting as it is and can be more level minded on it. Thanks to Sky we probably have a chance as 9 days is a good break to stew on it and rest and recover at the same time. Give them a few days off, maybe until Wednesday/Thursday and then prep and go again for Monday. I do think we will beat Newport but obviously would have rather not needed a result at Exeter! But still a reasonable chance we go there with it in our own hands again. Either way a solid finish of 4 points to restore confidence for the play offs is the minimum really so we are in the right place to attack that challenge if it comes down to it.

  19. This is not over yet, Northampton play Exeter next Saturday and we play Newport on Monday we can still do it by beating Newport and at least a draw at Exeter 🤞🤞

  20. We haven't got enough fit players to fill the bench and the pitch. If we play unfit players like Jake Taylor he cops a load of abuse. If we play fit players completely out of position........... let me guess - oh yeah they cop a load of abuse Hold on, let me just look out the window........................... nope, pretty sure the worlds not ending this morning. 😀

  23. We’ve had a good season (in spite of some things going wrong in the background) and it looks like we haven’t quite got enough in the tank. Players who have had good seasons but who had poor games today were the target of pretty bad stick. Almost as though they were waiting for Vale to slip up so they can go back to their default mode of berating people. Like a coiled spring. Yes you’re frustrated. We’ve fallen a bit short. That’s all. Have a sense of perspective.

  24. We were shyite, mate, because half the squad are running on empty. A side doesnt just become shyite after so many times of proving on our day we are a match for anyone.

  26. For the fans and the owners we are very promotion worthy this season but if we land in the play -offs we have as much chance of winning as Boris has of refusing to go a party

  27. We always over react after a win or a loss. As a fan base we do seem to get either very carried away or everything is doom and gloom. Were the celebrations after the Hartlepool game a bit premature? I think we are probably a little bit guilty of thinking we were nearly there and it’s bit us on the bum. It’s disappointing, but it’s not over yet. I expected us to lose a game before the end of the season, we were never going to keep winning. What’s most frustrating is losing two on the bounce, when in a brilliant position. I’m sure there will be more twists and turns yet. For me, we have lacked quality and creativity in midfield. Especially in games like yesterday. Obviously the injury to Conlon hasn’t helped. For example, Conlon still has the most assists this season (five), joint with Amoo and Gibbons. Those three have barely played all season. Garrity, Pett, Walker, Charsley have seven assists between them. If we do make the play offs, then so be it. The season continues and we are still in contention for promotion. Just go and win the play offs and prove we are promotion worthy.

  29. I think some people are focusing so much on Northampton that they forget all the top 7 still have a realistic chance of finishing 3rd. We could in theory kick off the Newport game in 7th place but finish the day in 3rd (or anywhere in between).

  31. If we beat Barrow, we’ll want to be Champions. We’ve only ever been champions of a division once in our history, our players will want to do it this year. We’ll definitely be trying against Northampton.

  35. Really what's it to you I put what's in my heart . You happy we have virtually put ourselves in the play offs v teams who are playing well . Press ignore if do not like what you reading. Two games ago Vale park was buzzing,Burslem the area buzzing I bet it isn't this morning and unless there's a miracle with Exeter beating or drawing with Northampton when they probably be promoted tues . Play offs are not what we wanted especially with our form going completely. Change the team oh we cannot because the others are alledgedly not good enough . Change the system so we harder beat . UTV

  36. I don't think anything has altered tonight still my all time bogey side, I had to check that Buckley hadn't scored, at 71 I reckon if he'd played today he would have nicked at least one.

  38. I might be in the minority but I know some good people who are stoke fans. When they lose we have good banter but when they win I am happy for them as people. I don’t mind them doing well just not to well. Crewe on the other hand. Never met a nice Crewe fan ever.

  44. It was a depressingly lame effort. I don't know why. Just looked half assed. Like no one could be bothered. The on field bickering was frankly embarrassing. Just don't do it! It's not hard. It is not a good look. We go again.

  45. The support is there. They were backed to the hilt today. I feel with a full complement of players we’re a top side, other than that we’re a play off team at best. I don’t see us winning the next 2 so we have to accept that, in all probability, we’re going to be involved in the lottery that is the play offs. At the start of the season most of us would’ve been OK with this and we shouldn’t lose track of that.

  46. Worth remembering it takes most teams a few seasons of knocking on the door before sealing a promotion. FG have been building for 4 years, Exeter have been in the playoffs several times over past few years. Very very few teams go from being at risk of slipping out of the league (as we were last season), to achieving promotion the very next year. I would have bitten your hand off for playoffs & will be delighted if we bag our place. When alls said & done & you take everything thay has happened this year into account, the club as a whole has done us proud to be in with a sniff at promotion. If Northampton drop points against Exeter next week, we need a win at home against Newport to take us back into 3rd place. All ifs & buts... but we could then be looking at needing a win on the last day to seal automatic promotion. Keep the faith. We're not at our best but we've now got 9 days rest before we go again, & we need every single one of those days!

  47. I try constantly mate, but sometimes at 4am when the game finishes then I feel like a zombie while I recover for the rest of week I sometimes contemplate why on earth I do it. I try to believe my glass is indeed half full. Otherwise I would not be in a phone box at 2.30am on a random morning January in 2006 while Vale play away at Aston Villa the FA Cup my Dad holding the phone to the speaker blaring out radio stoke commentary, believing we can pull off a shock. I am also a realist. The realism is that we are 'sh 1 t 3' at the moment. So it is up to the players to make me believe, I will still be up at all hours next week. Watching, hoping. UTV!!

  49. Well, that was absolutely atrocious. Defence was abysmal, Charsley and Proctor had their worst games in a vale shirt by far. Disappointing because they were nothing special, we were just <ovf censored>. Also, I was getting so angry at the end - we were putting crosses in the box and no bugger was in there!
