Sbilli.... There is also a hell of a lot of players that wouldnt make the grade. Ive seen Fredrikstad play many times and there is no doubt in my mind that Vale would beat them more times than not.

Erik Husseklepp, who tore the tippeleagen apart, did nothing with Pompey and then Birmingham and moved back to Brann on a four year contract.

The best Norwegian based players are often the Africans who use the league as a stepping stone.

Always wondered why the Norwegian leagues have so many African and West Indian players in them. I mean why go so far north, why not a weaker southern European league i.e Greek or Albanian Superliga.

Right, must say if I ever get the chance through my masters degree programme or future work would like to one day visit or live in Norway. Only problem is I'd like to learn Norsk but can't get it on Rosetta stone. Would you recommend it ST?, Norway that is.

I guess it's easier for them to get a work permit in Norway too? And what's the tax situation like?

Its not that easy. They are very strict as to why you are coming into the country and all non English speakers have to learn Norwegian within 18 months i think or get deported.

Tax is severe. Everything is taxed up to the hilt. Especially alcohol.

Around 35% comes out of your wage.

Without a doubt. The problem is you need to take out a mortgage to travel here!

Everything is roughly three times the price of back home.

Ten pounds a pint.

8 quid a block of cheese.

2 quid a carton of milk.

Eating out would set you back around 20 quid a meal.

The scenary is superb in the summer and in the winter also but it gets way too cold and can be very depressing. Its minus 11 atm whe i live and thats the south of the country.at this time of year if you go North some places dont even see the light of day!

Its a very relaxing country though and the people are very friendly until they have a beer and then they are ****ing lunatics!

They love their football though and English football in particular.

I would recommend it to anyone but its not cheap at all.

Sure I read somewhere aswell that the only places which can sell alcohol are government owned and certain establishments arn't allowed to at all and after certain times.

mmm cheers ST, surprised bout the prices though and people Britain is one of the dearest places in the world. The way of life sounds good though, sometimes the British way of life can do my head in, thats the reason why I would like to experience another country is ever given the opportunity. Love Jarlsberg aswell but at 8 quid a block it would be eation sparingly lol. Does the Krone offer good value for money though.

Correct for liquor and Wine.

Special shops are where you get your spirits and wine from but they do close at 6pm on a weekday and 3pm on a Saturday. Not open at all on a Sunday.

Grocery stores can sell ale. 8pm is the cutoff point on weekdays and 6pm on Saturdays. Illegal to sell any alcohol at all on a Sunday which winds me up as if you fancy a few tinnys on a Sunday you have to decide by 6pm on a Saturday!

Again, its expensive though.

Averaging around 3 quid for a 500ml can. 15 quid for a drinkable bottle of wine and around 35 quid for a litre of Smirnoff.

Jarlsberg is the best cheese ever, yes!

Prices are only relative to what you earn though.

You get a bar job you are on 15 quid an hour plus tips and tips can work out at around 15 quid an hour as well!!

An Electrician working 35 hrs a week would get around 40k a year.

Blimey ultra strich then and I though we were particular with our standard measures etc...

Ahh I see so a good job could come in very handy. Gotta love Jarlsberg though.

On a football front I'd say it's easier than getting one over here. That's why so many clubs send their African players to Norway so they can get a permit over here. And super Demar Phillips got one no problem! Man City did with a few Ghanaians they have too. And 35% is better than the top earners here. So it's a good screw if they're on decentish wages that amount to more than 100k a year.
