Nail on the head, there. There's more longevity in the US still, where there's 5-6 months between singles. Over here, it's one after another - it isn't written with the intention of lasting, or actually being any good. Which is obvious a shame.

I don't know who's buying 21 but they still are, and they are doing it in huge numbers. Sold more copies in the UK than Bad, Thriller, and DSOTM, which is ridiculous when you think about just how massive MJ and the Floyd were.

Prefer Rumer - so much of the stuff today is pretty bland and has been done before - and because of that it is harder and harder to do something that makes an impact. Glad it's not just me that finds Adele pretty ordinary. And when will we stop hyping musicians who can write a song and sing it themselves moderately well? Isn't that what they do? Kate Bush anyone?

I'll never, ever forget that moment she first sung Wuthering Heights on TOTP, it was at the height of the punk and disco era and she came on waving her arms around like a nutter singing this bizarre song.... I was gobsmacked...Absolutely brilliant!!!!:)
