For those that may be confused by my running totals, I accidently quoted the dollar amount in previous posts. Just so we are clear OVF requires:

 

£220 for a forum upgrade

£220 for hosting improvements (but we have £100 towards that already)

TOTAL: £340

(i.e. Not the £500 previous quoted)

 

We reiterate that we would always say that #savethevale should take priority but we are grateful for any and all donations.

£150 in less than twelve hours - thank you to those who have donated, I am very grateful.

 

I now have enough to proceed with the server enhancements. I needed £220 to do it and with £100 already in our coffers, we now have £250.

 

I will wait till after the weekend rush to move us over but I will start the process off now

How about an OVF DONATION WEEKEND - anyone that logs on this Saturday or Sunday to just send a pound (or more if they wish) , I will start it off by sending my quid. If you put this on the front page, hopefully that should make up the difference. A lot of us are a bit cash-strapped, but a pound for all the tremendous hard work, informative data and amusement that OVF brings us isn't asking a lot.

** UPDATE **

£171 so far... thanks to all who have given.

 

New server is now ordered (I got a reduction of about a fiver a month too) and set to be installed in next 24 hours. I will then probably switch the site over to it on Monday/Tuesday. There will be no downtime as it will simply be a domain name redirect...

For exiles like myself OVF is the main source of info on all things Vale, and all the time and effort you put in is greatly appreciated.

Have to say I really didn't like the new forum - so it's great to have the old one back. I'm sure you'll get more than enough in donations to cover the costs.

I just went through a test order to check I can pay for the forum upgrade via Paypal.

 

The good news is that I can. The bad news is that the initial price does not include VAT so I need to add a further £50 to the money required.

Thank goodness you lot are donating your pelf because Rob was about to put in place a reduced biscuit allocation for the Mods morning tea and was thinking of cutting our free Christmas call home - and that's just for staters on the 'The Mods can't have' list.

 

Caz and me were spitting chips and have been secretly planning mass protests on the Forums to get Betsy Fielding take over the reins.

 

Seriously though, Caz and I know Rob was at great pains whether or not to ask for your money when most of you have other more important priorities to fret about, but on behalf of all the Mods please accept our heartfelt thanks for your super kindness and generosity in helping Rob in this way. :)
