he's a good player, i'd pick him over Owen every time

Exactly. What he did was unwise, but on the TV the ball looked out of play and I think it likely he felt he could do what he did because of that. In any event goal three would not have occurred without a gross miskick in defence and we should have at least drawn.

On the tv it looked even more inconclusive!

He had no right to do what he did sadly whether the ball was in or out of play. He took the law into his own hands which was simply daft.

As the ball is round, it is entirely possible to be able to see the line from the seats in the stand and for the ball to still be in play as, if more than half the ball (but not all of it) has crossed the line, the line will be visible to anyone in the seated area.

.

If you read my post you will see that I am not disagreeing with you - I am simply disagreeing with those who said the ball was ON the line.

knew I should've taken a print screen...I paused it at the prefect point first time, and you could clearly see it was out. there genuinely isn't a debate to be had about that point.

Very harsh yellow card ..... The ball had clearly gone out for a goal kick

I know you should play to the whistle but his actions were, I believe, due to thinking the ball was dead.

Whether the ball was out or not is immaterial. It was a stupid and unnecessary shirt tug but it didn't deserve another yellow.I think that he would have got away it had it not been for the two Crawley players complaining. That was really sporting of them.Begging the referee to send a player off.Still it won them the game didn't it so why should they feel ashamed.
