Should be a tough work out for your lot tommorow night. Hope you bring more than the 50 scunthorpe and Mansfield bought. Anyway enjoy the game in the finest ground in the lower leagues :-).

I'm also gathering there will be a mutual love in with regards to our old messiah Geoff horsfield and your club stalwart neil aspin. We refer to Neil as Lord Aspin, as he has achieved hero god status in 2 seasons as manager. We've only lost 6 times in his 84 games in charge. We have garnered 198points and over 200goals.

Aspo was my favourite, Aspin for England

Looking forward to seeing him again

That is some record.

Aspin is a Vale legend. Without a doubt.

How has he achieved this? Have you got better facilities and more money than anyone else or has he achieved this without much of a budget?

Considering average crowds for us are 1500, and apart from fcum the others average around 200 or less. Than yes our budget is considerably larger. It didn't help us in our first season after we reformed as we finished 9th. Aspin was then appointed and the rest is history.

His management skills in my mind are 2nd to none. He doesnt preach bull****, he demands 110% commitment, and he knows that for his success so far he is still only 10 bad games from the sack.

He might have had a larger budget, but to basically get 100 points in two consecutive seasons is still pretty phenomenal. Our crowds are also higher than when we were in the conference last time and we are still one league below that level. We had a crowd of over 4000 last season, which Is quite impressive when your playing the likes of chasetown and nantwich town.

Add to that we have one of the better stadiums than most in league 1 and 2 then it's a pretty good time to be a shaymen.

Sounds like you are a club on the up and after the last few years you have had, good luck to you.

Its also going to be nice that our pre season finally kicks in tomorrow. Some of our fans think we are gunning for promotion because we have beaten 4 teams in the USA and Canada. ;)

They are also a bit touchy about realism so i prepare myself for a barrage of abuse!

Good luck for the season.

I think the club thought twice about appointing former players, and non league managers after the last few years. I'm gutted that I can't go as I've made friends up there ever since an FA Trophy match at Shepshed Dynamo a few years back. I had my photo taken with Aspo that day, and he signed my programme. A giant of a man on and off the field.

I championed him before Goonan got it, but as people were saying it might be a league too far for him, i still think we should have had a look at him. For a start my 6 year old can turn a laptop on, so that would have been the interview sorted:D
