It's clear there is a situation regarding Michael Brown, manager not want to pick him and put un tried youngsters on the bench ? Chairman not want to pay him appearance money ? Either way the experience Michael Brown brings to the table is vital, yesterday the leadership of Michael is something vale were crying out for!

Couldn't agree more. I said about a month ago he's gone in January which is a great shame as players who have a combination of passion and quality are severely limited at present.

I don't personally think it's anything to do with Rob Page not picking him.

Don't think Michael Brown would have helped yesterday. We needed two wingers and two forwards yesterday. Everytime we went forward it came straight back usually because aj, Dodds Foley or birchall had miscontrolled or mispassed . We didn't win any second balls and at times our defending was school boyish , chasing the ball instead of marking men.

I heard a while a go Page and Brown were not speaking. The dispute arising from Pages' negative tactics.

 

I think we have have missed his experience massively over the last couple of months, not only yesterday. Although our league FORM has been good lately, our PERFORMANCES have generally been poor.

I would say winning second balls is a speciality of Michael Brown, I would also say marking players and not chasing the ball around is also another specialty. Not forgetting his natural leadership qualities!

The Centre midfield wasn't the issue. We were hitting goal kicks to the wings as we knew aj couldn't win headers , 90% of the time we lost the header off any goal kick/ free kick and the entire team was slow to react to second balls. Brown or no Brown, it wouldn't have made a difference if the other 9 outfield don't react.

My opinion is that we really are hard up if we are now saying Brown is the answer to our problems!

 

Not knocking you Michael, but it's at times of depression that fans look anywhere for an answer and generally come up with a bizarre solution. It is so easy to look at other players in the full squad and suggest they could be better. That is far too short sighted imo. Our underlying problem with the whole squad is that they honestly are NOT good enough for a promotion challenge and are TOTALLY lacking in ideas on or off the pitch which may give rise to the apparent lack of passion shown by too many players on any day. However it does not take a genius at present to see and say that almost anyone with 2 legs would have been better for Vale in the FA Cup!!!!

Is Brown fit? Has he featured in any reserve games in the last few weeks? I'm sure he would have been a more useful sub option than say Deen-Conteh but only if he was actually fit.

 

Page seemed happy to play him in the latter part of last season and throughout the summer friendlies so I can't see how it's a "falling out" but if the player's not fit, that would perhaps explain why he's not involved in the squad.

I heard the same back at the start of November and that Page would be offloading in January.

Michael Brown was a long way from Exeter, my son was at the Manchester City Charity Christmas walk yesterday and I think that he was there in his capacity as an ex player !
