Clarke Carlisle was trying to commit suicide

Recommended Posts

My partner suffers heavily with depression and anxiety. I can tell you that it is a debilitating and cruel illness and watching her go through the things she does upsets me to the core.

I often hear people saying it's attention seeking, what have they got to be upset/down/depressed about? Sometimes this actually comes from her own family.

I come to the conclusion that if you have that view, you've either never had to deal with it (either yourself or someone you know) or you distance yourself and simply don't want to. Which is actually understandable as it is incredibly difficult and demanding.

I've found myself thinking "enough is enough" many times before and no doubt will do again. You can't help it. But the from what Mr Little is saying, he seems to be implying Carlisle knows what he's doing and that we should stop listening.

Depression kills people, wrecks lives, just like other serious illnesses.

I would suggest it is people like Ralph Little that we should stop listening to. Maybe he is trying to get some attention due him not really feeling relevant or important anymore. Maybe he has slightly more in common with Clarke Carlisle than he thinks.

Totally agree with Ralf Little.

I empathise with Clarke Carlisle for having depression as I wouldn't wish that on anybody BUT that doesn't make him a likeable person.

I've never met the guy but from what I've heard & seen, I don't like him. He comes across as arrogant and selfish and I think he's a crap co-commentator.

I have met him and he is, how shall I put this, not my cup of tea. Saying that he is a husband and a father and I feel desperately sorry he thought that was his only way out. He obviously has his demons and I hope he conquers them for the sake of him and those who care for him

I think it very brave of him to say that it was "not an accident." Sad when anyone suffers from depression and so much worse I assume, if you're in the public eye. I for one, wish Clarke all the very best in fighting this illness. Let's hope that his family, friends and all the people around him can help him to move forward.

I never considered the media pressure and I absolutely agree with you
