I'd say we developed them pretty well as bigger teams have come in for the two this summer and Morsy did well at his team last season so we seem to be developing them well, just not keeping hold of them.

i actually thought that once joe davis got back into the side last season he was probably our best defender. he had started to read the game brilliantly and his distribution was far better than anyone else in the back four. he'd started to cut out his mistakes too, until that one against crewe (i can't even remember what that was so it couldn't have been a howler). then he's out of the team again. i think his lack of height would always have counted against him when moving up the leagues but there is a top end league one centre half in him at the very least.

Joe looked really promising but I'm afraid there always seemed a howler around the corner. Very, very lucky not to get sent off against Crewe then got the hump at being withdrawn.

Both these players were offered contracts, THEY decided to move. Davis last season used other teams players to avoid relegation instead of his own young players. For their so called excellent academy and all the great young players that crwho have turned out over the years ,and the big fees they have generated for the club, they still finished in a lower lge position than us. :yes:

Why is it a problem? Its a results business and we finished much higher then Crewe who pride themselves on bringing through there own talent which coincidentally is a bit of myth and very hypocritical by steve davis based on the perception that their 2 best players last year were borrowed from other teams development squad and NOT the Crewe academy
