Yates and Loft sign 2 year deals

Very pleased to see these 2 sign - Yates has the right attitude and for a large part of the season performed well, and Loft is crucial to the midfield and always works hard as well as showing great skills at times.

Those who say he is always injured are talking nonsense as he has played around 25 games each of the last 2 seasons.

It's a great decision to tie these two down to new contracts at the earliest opportunity. We've already lost Owen due to showing no urgency to get him to sign a new contract, and I doubt many of us want the same thing to happen to us with our other better players. Yes, under normal circumstances, you wouldn't want new contracts handed out until the real issue is resolved, but if we did that without paying any attention or showing any effort to get our better players tied to the Club, then we'd end up with the Owen situation six times over and we'd be stuck with a squad full of reserves, fringe players and players who a lot of our fans deem 'not good enough'. We have to try and get the balance right. Players like Haldane, Justin Richards, Roberts, Taylor etc.. that's understandable, but the likes of Yates, Loft, Marc Richards, Griffith, Collins, McCombe and the likes are the core to our team and we need to make sure we don't cast them aside and show more interest in getting the Board out than keeping our current batch under the influence that they are indeed wanted.

Absolutely spot on. 100% Agree.

Should have released Yates and used the money to offer Owen better terms. Yates is ok but replaceable, Owen is much more difficult to replace.

Regardless of who was coming and/or going V2001 should have put their hands in their pockets and found a little extra for the Chairmans Player of the Season, they should have also backed the manager during the January transfer window, they failed to do that too and we're stuck in this **** division.

Sadly you reap what you sow and in their case it's very little.

Doug Lofts career record in league matches is 0.05 goals per game. If he maintains that and plays every game next season he will net 2.3 goals. He's a decent player but is he the answer to our lack of goals?
