Online Tickets - Mobile Phone Scanning

Evening All,

Not sure whether any of you are aware of this, but if you buy an online ticket, the ticket is e-mailed to you as a PDF file.

PDF files can be opened on both Android and iOS devices and the scanners at the gates can scan the barcode from your phone. There is absolutely no need to print the ticket, just let the guy at the ground scan your phone.

Good news, should be on the official site really, with confirmation that all gate staff are conversant with the procedure.

I bought my ticket on-line and printed it off and folded it as instructed keeping it uncreased - on arrival at the turnstile the ticket wouldn't scan and I was admitted manually.

The guy on the turnstile told me that this had happened to him on numerous occasions during the day, something that needs to be addressed as it causes further delays in the cue and, correct me if I'm wrong, would give a lower attendance figure than the actual.

As an aside, I would be interested in knowing the number of tickets sold as opposed to the number scanned to record the attendance??

I think the number sold is the number quoted nowadays, looks better for sponsors etc, and as you said the attendance figure, required by the police would be interesting. Also the same comparison on a midweek league fixture. Quite likely somebody on here has the answers.

The attendance is those who attend, not tickets sold - administrator wanted it done the other way, but it hasn't happened, told by the club.
