Student season ticket

Not all students are under 21, when the club said they'd considerd students they haven't.

If you read my earlier posts on this thread you would know my wife is a mature student. It was her choice to do this so I do sympathise but I still think it is right not to discount over 21. Would you be prepared to pay double when you get a job after being a mature student and hopefully get a better job because of it....

But at 18, 19 and 20 you are an adult so why should they get one either, you have people those ages that work ful-time. and Yes it is a choice but so it is a choice for anyone to go. There should be a student price accross the board. I am living in halls and trying survive off student finance because the jobs market is cack here aswell. When the club said it considered students it should have done just that. I wanted to better myself and it financially has crippled me this year. I don't live at home, or have a husband or wife to help split home costs. A student is a student and some of us are on tight budgets yet have pay more than a working adult of 18, 19 or 20.

At this rate if all the various discounts people are after, I will probably be able to get in for free.

Exiled Valiant (I live in London, due to distance that's got to be at least 20% discount)

Armed Force Discount (Ok so I left last year, so I will go for 10% as an Ex and not the full 20% for still serving)

Pensioners Discount (I am no were near 62, but I get a pension and letters addressed to Dear Pensioner so 20% for that please)

Student Discount (I went to school once, so I was a student once that's got to worth 10% (That's about the same amount of effort I put in at school))

Cares Discount (I travel to games with NLV, that's classed as care in the community, must be worth 20%)

Co-op Employees Discount (I work for the Co-op now, they give me discount and have a big building next to Vale Park, so 10%)

Throw in my ticket stub from the last home game and I am on for a free season ticket.

Must be other discounts you have missed, find some more and Vale will pay you to attend.

This is the issue for me not all students are ages 12 - 17 or 18 - 21 and not all people that age are students especially people who WORK fulltime in the 18-21 brackets, so where is the deal for a mature student like me, who has totally rely on my own income aswell as paying the silly rents at halls of residence ? Where as the younger students in those age brackets get the student finance aswell as weekly allowencies off their parents. They have missed a chance sell alot more season tickets with this one. I wont be able go all games next season. Not unless I want go through the patches like this year with no money at all for 7 weeks etc.

It's a shame you didn't study in during the Thatcher period, because as a mature student you'd have got a grant (which you wouldn't have had to pay back) to go to college/University and more than likely wouldn't have had to pay stupidly high tuition fees. Post Graduate education simply isn't financially feasible for the average person who is simply trying to improve themselves anymore. Bring back the 80's politics I say, a time when those with ambition were facilitated and rewarded.

around £13000 on joining and around £16000 after training when they are sent to the front line in Afghan for 6 months.

No disrespect - I wouldn't do your job for a million quid, but surely you have food accomodation, clothing, transport etc all found, so to compare your slalary with someone in civvy street isn't comparing eggs with eggs.

With the exeption of clothing, you pay for everything. The only time you dont pay for food & accomadation is when you are in whats classed as field conditions. (Tents, sand, and getting shot at)

Not a dig at you personaly, I am always amazed at the amout of people who think the armed forces dont pay for stuff. I have been asked on more that once occasion if I paid tax as I was in the armend forces and asumed that I lived for free.

Looks like I'll be shelling out £22 a time! I probably make 10-15 home games a season (if I'm lucky with midweek games etc), so because of the job I do, I have to effectively pay £300 because I don't have a choice.

But, that's the nature of the beast and we have to accept it. No point continuously whinging about it.

IMO, they should have created a tiered ticketing system, so that if we are playing a Colchester or a Stevenage, we don't pay the same as if we are playing a Wolves, for instance.

You know that you'll be able to buy games in batches? So you should be able to, if you know 5 weekends where you are free, buy 5 tickets at closer to ST rates

What do you mean? Is this happening?? I pretty much know what weekends I have off in advance, as it's a 3 week rolling rota (unless we have a BIG visit at last minute!) - My problem though, is that my weekends off, generally fall on an away match!! haha. Means I can have an away day, but doesn't help home game situations :(

I think that if there was a Student discount it should not matter your age. In fact it might be more difficult the older you are as you are less likely to be living at home with parents etc.

My mate works part time and has more money than me, both me and my wife work full time. If he went to college (had did till last year) he would still have more money than me.
