The reality is that should Vale struggle to maintain a top half finish, the 'project' will be a quarter completed and Vale will have achieved a respectable lower half finish to consolidate their league status.

Not once has the club stated 'Promotion is the priority!'

With a competitive budget which they’ve said we’ll have then a top half finish shouldn’t really be a struggle. I agree with the promotion part, suppose the recruitment or lack of will tell us more 👍🏻

Matt Hancock should be accountable to Carol. Everyone else accountable to Matt Hancock. Surely.

True, but then at some point the owner has to realise when people aren’t performing and step in.

I’m still concerned with the manager. I feel he’s a manager that may have a good pull in the transfer window, but he just does not convince me tactically. We should be aiming to bounce back immediately especially with the rumoured budged, sadly I think they will settle for consolidating

Matt Hancock needs to step up then.

True, and if not that would be when Carol steps in and makes changes. This ‘new’ approach (Carol stepping back) can only be a positive IMO

Not many teams bounce straight back up, it’s not as easy as some are making out. But your right it should be possible depending on how competitive this budget will be. The signings will give us some indication 👍🏻

Yeah I’ve seen. Isn’t it like 1. Something % that bounce straight back. We’ve just got to be competing around that top 7 I think. Don’t want us just treading water in the bottom half

I thought the evening was very good. I just watched it end to end. I took a lot more confidence from it; if only to proceed to renew season tickets.

I think Darren Moore and his support team are experienced and know their stuff in great depth. They will put in place a coaching and matchday regime that gives us a better framework. They know there is a soft underbelly in the squad and losing a game 4-2 that we were winning 2-0 at half time etc. is completely unacceptable.

In the end it's about attracting players that can fill the voids in our team from last season and bring success. Looking at attendances, PV sit in the top 10 in L2 whereas we were circa 18th in L1. We are relatively a bigger club and need to use that profile and the financial backing of the owners to acquire a strong team. A message I took from this event is a desire to have a considerable turnover of players despite many being under contract. That needs to be engineered - and I think even some sacred cows may be sacrificed.

Moore’s certainly putting a lot of pressure on himself. If this goes wrong he’s gone from 96 points in League 1 to being sacked in League 2, after a very poor spell at Huddersfield.

He can’t blame ‘recruitment structures’ or anything like that as it appears he wants full control.

He’s effectively risking his management career on success with PVFC within the next 12 months.

… success with PVFC within the next 60-odd months.

I certainly believe that Carol means what she says with Darren’s 5.5 year contract.

Please don’t misunderstand, we can all see that Darren and his staff are committed to a massive improvement in footballing performance in the coming season.

But it’s not a make or break season, bar the unthinkable threatening.

I caught the tail end of Lee but I wasn't going in 69/70 when he achieved the promotion so I don't remember him as a particularly successful manager he left And Sproson took over quite soon after I started going.
Promotion in a managers first job is as good as it gets. Followed by a few years in the top tier, not many Vale managers have done that.

I personally do not think that Matt Hancock is qualified either professionally or by experience to be a CEO. He was head of community at Burton less than 18 months ago. That does not prepare you to run a Company in its entirety. So Carol stepping aside is not good in my view and something tells me that will be the gradual pull back by the family. Too much hurt and too many mistakes.

I can only see more struggle ahead.
