I still couldn't believe Richards would leave for another league 2 club - Preston or Shrews perhaps but a league 2 move would be very little progression with not much improvement contract-wise.

If I was Richards I would wait to see who else we sign and what other firm contracts he gets offered, then make a decision in early July. If I was one of the best players at the club I would be very displeased to hear that the majority of last year's squad will be staying with the possibility of some better players leaving. The squad will be shaping up in a few months and this will show the ambition of the new owners, ability of the team and aspirations of the manager. They can have no qualms with him leaving if the outlook for next season looks unlikely to improve, with him saddled with solo goal-scoring duty again.

Its a balancing act. We have some saying don't offer him much of an improvement on what he is currently on because everyone is replaceable but then people will question the ambition of the club.

I can't see him playing in L2 next season if he leaves Vale.

I'd be happier if Micky brought in around 14 new players and overhauled the squad using the best players as linchpins (on more than the newbies). Minor alterations to a top 10 side will not end in success in my opinion.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a massive blackpool fan and knows the ins and outs, he will be staying there for at least two years without a doubt.
