Lofty as Full Back

He was a midfielder turned superb full-back too!

Toss up probably as Millsy didn't have Lofty's energy but his set-pieces were light years ahead.

Close run thing I guess but Loft might pip him because of his versatility, I reckon he might just rival Joe Hart if given the chance! :D

Simon Simon played at a higher level though, don't forget that. Not taking anything away from Loft though. I actually said when we were leaving the ground last night, that even when Yates is fit, he'd struggle to get his place back in the team now.

Is it me or is Doug Loft the best right Back seen at Vale since Andy Hill?

He's got pace, gets up and down the line, rarely gets done by his winger, and has a great cross on him...

Great footballer, midfielder but even better full back, what a find... :yes:

It also allows up to get the quality players like Marshall & Shuker in the middle of midfield (as well as the Griffinator!). Loft is a great full back and i think Rob Taylor is doing well at left back. It just makes a nice change having players at full back with pace!

Who was also originally a midfielder, turned full back.

that was exactly what i said last night- reminds me of simon mills- midfield who can pass at right back- but does nt look as knackered!

Simon Simon = God

Loft = Son Of God

Simon Simon was also the best corner taker on the planet.

Loft has better hair though.

Remember the playoffs? Mills corner - flick on by Beckford - Robbie Earle ,BANG, goal,promotion. What a day. But back to the point Lofty has been playing a blinder in his new found role.

Perhaps the most improved player I can remember at Vale. I remember when he came from Brighton and thought he was going to be worse than Lipa as he simply didn't seem to want to get stuck in. Bournemouth in 2010 was his last dreadful performance like this (although the whole team stank), but since then he has fought like a terrier in every game I have seen.

Gradually he has become so good at linking the ball into midfield and winning the ball that yes, I think he has been brilliant. Over the season, probably the best player with Griff.
