Players Wages

I understand the point your making if anyone should receive the benefits of a collection it's the back office staff. But your going over board there will be several players in that team with young families and mortgages equally as worried about the situation that's all I'm saying

Will you be making a donation to the Players' Fund?

Your havin a ****ing laugh surely???

I wake up at 5.30am travel around 1.5 hours to get to work, then do a 12 hour shift and get back in around 8.00/9.00pm and you want me to chip in with wages for the players, they can't even hang on to 1 goal lead!

I don't donate to charities such as Children in Need and Sport relief on the basis that these have programmes hosted by multi-millionaire celebrities begging for money.

If Robbie Williams and Phil Taylor are such big vale fans get in touch with them and ask them to pay them.

The only player i would pay towards is Doug Loft becuase he puts a shift in every game, no other vale player is worth it IMO

I'm sorry, but I agree with 7 sisters....even with a young family and a mortgage, a grand a week is probably the least they would be taking home......and they will, as professional footballers, be more likely to be earning a sight more than almost anyone else locally.....and have better job prospects since they are more likely to get another football job....

As "football creditors" they will get paid, eventually....

The poor folk who work in the offices and elsewhere at the club will NOT have anything - they will be paid way less than the players, will probably not have had the chance to build up savings, and they will be much lower down the pecking order for payment, are much more likely to get made redundant, and have much worse chances of finding alternative work.

On that basis, they need our help a lot more....

To a point I agree but there are also people within the office staff who have backed these people who got us in this mess and still believe in the likes of Bill Bratt. These people also have known what is going on with the finances. I am not saying everyone has but there are people in the offices who knew about the mess we were in and went along with it.

I completely agree that it is right and proper those lower paid members of staff are looked after first. But don't lets get carried away thinking that League Two footballers are driving round in Bentley's and spending £500 on bottles of Veuve Clicquot every Saturday night. The players also deserve sympathy here that was my point.

I know they're not as rich as the prem lads, but in comparative terms, they are to the bulk of the local population what the prem lads are to them......and I think that they can manage Mercs and a decent standard of living.......but let's not fall out over it.....

I think there are people in senior positions for whom that may be true, but the rest of them were and still are just doing their job, regardless of who they backed or believed in.....they didn't really have the clout to have a choice about any of it.....I don't think we should judge who to help on any basis other than their financial situation....

I don't think there's anything wrong in principle with employees being first in the pecking order, including players.

No way I'm contributing to a collection, though.

Gareth Owen on telly claiming that they live hand to mouth didn't really tug at my heartstrings.

What Owen said is fair enough and I can appreciate his stance on behalf of the team, I support the players 100% in this situation, but I could never afford to pass money on as I'm sure would be the same for a few other Vale fans. What the club is starting to go through is a horrible thing and unfortunately this is part of the process, there's nobody else to blame but the board.

That's probably the biggest load of rubbish I've ever had the misfortune of reading on OVF.
