Richards to go end of season

Richards is a player of reasonable ability probably capable of playing at league 1 level still. But it is not the end of the world. I know the current situation is bad, but in any event the club will need to comply with the new financial fair play rules and that may put an end to the more highly paid players at leagues 1 and 2 where the support is not great enough to pay for them. I thank for his service and wish him good luck.

I think I've said it before. A few years ago we could not offer George Pilkington an increased contract. In fact we could not even offer him the same wage. I think the same is happening with Rico. He will move on if he gets a better deal and it is not too far away. Otherwise he stays on what Port Vale can afford. No-one knows at the moment, not even Marc, so wait and see. His ankle injury will play a part.

 

Most Port Vale players, in the last 5 years at least, have left the club to go to non league and Pilkington is an example of that. I know Luton offered more money, but he is playing at a lower level. I don't dislike him, but he is a journeyman player and won't be long remembered.
