vale fans arnt what they used to be when i first started following the vale to many happy clappers that beleive the drivel that bratt spouts......

I wish i knew were they had gone i remember being away to Millwall years ago when a section sang all the old vale player chants in protest to the inept performance on the pitch really good songs pity those players are gone

neil aspin

Andy Porter

Martin Foyle

Van der Lann

Ian Taylor

Tony Naylor

......I could go on there seem to be a perod when the bycars used to chant a song for every vale player prior to kick off seems to have disappered when rudge left......

Amazing, even the lack of chants is down to the board!

I think its more likely to be that the paddock seems heavily populated by uninventive, unimaginative people who prefer to antagonise the away support, and shout abuse at their own players rather than come up with chants and get them going.

Ever noticed how it often falls to the older support in the railway stand to get some songs going?

To be fair I think we have a lot more songs for individual players this season. I started going in 2001, and for a number of years I thought we sung hardly any about the players.

However, I think some of our home support is really negative, and has a lot of moaning f***ers. The only songs we get around the middle of the Paddock are 'Porrrt Vaaaaaaaaayullllllllllllllllll, Porrrt Vayullllllllllllllllllllll', or 'Vale, Vale, VALE!', probably when we get a corner or have a shot.

I know we've been a lot more successful, but I think a lot do dwell on the past a lot, rather than getting behind the team to look forward to the future. There has only been really good atmosphere at 2 games for me, Shrewsbury & Bradford (Maybe something to do with the cameras, etc). This season anyway.

I love going away, as with even the smallest support, we can out sing anyone. It must be crap for teams coming here, as they are in a wide open space, far away. Most of the places we visit are tiny, and we can create a great atmosphere.

Maybe the size of the ground and lack of attendance is what ruins it though. Just hope we can get in the play-offs and fill it a bit more, haven't seen much success in these 10 years so far:D.

But as for the players, most of the songs we sung for those in the 90s can be altered to the ones that play now.

still dont understand why we sing steino is a to**er

To be honest, I'd prefer to sing anything as long as there's atmosphere. It's part of the reason you go to a football match. Plus, that song might not be relevant, but it's been a laugh everytime I've seen it sung. It was cracking in the pub at Macclesfield.

I was thinking of a few old songs today, funnily enough...

"Bless them all"

"Hark now hear the Vale sing..."

"We are the Vale boys...if you are a Walsall fan, surrender or you die..."

"Land of hope and glory, home of the Vale FC (not Walsall)"

All classics, all rarely heard...

"We hate Walsall more than Stoke" Dont think that was ever really true. Remember Bernies evil-Bernie Wright. And "Stevie Fox is always running. Bobby Newtons always scoring. Can you here the paddock calling. Bobby is our king." Happy days.
