Fully agree with that statement reference Matthews the player.

But remind me now,who was it as a manager that got the Vale kicked out of the league having to apply for re-election?;)

Yes, but that was for making payments that the club didn't even know were illegal, and which got picked up when the accounts were published. It wasn't something that the club even thought about hiding, because no-one even knew they were doing wrong.

The indiscipline amongst many of the current squad was a key factor in last season's abject slide down the table. Jim Gannon was not totally to blame. Funnily enough Mark Grew was also scathing about many of the players after the Barnet defeat and intimated they simply weren't good enough. Wonder if he still feels the same now that many have been retained and he has been promoted as Mickey's No 2?

Didnt Grew also say after the Barnet defeat that a big clearout of players is needed?

Funnily enough it was the dodgy characters in the boardroom at the time (de ja vu?) who made illegal payments to the parents of youth players they wanted to sign. It was common practice at the time and probably still is but if you're inept at doing it you'll be made an example of. Oh, and if you're not a big name 'top' club as well.

If my memory serves me right, it was over china tea services, the Vale were competing against 1st division clubs in securing the signatures of promising teenagers in the North East, apparently one family thought they were getting a Fridge but when we rolled up with cups and saucers the lads father took offence and reported us to the league.

Rock hard Justin, i'm just really surprised he didn't miss with his punch.

Anyway, i was going to say give it a go up Hanley son, one on one, but i'm guessing you would probably crap yourself without your mates you big fairy.

Cos they're so hard up Hanley.....pretty sure, Richards could take most of the drongo's up there.

To travel to Leeds for a night out at that time it was probably his Christmas knees up. Pope has been arrested twice that we know of (we've all seen the Sentinel clip) yet hear some people talk and he's God's love child. Double standards.
