We are where we are

I've heard this statement used alot on this forum but have peole actually thought about it!

We live in a small city where there are two football teams, one in the premiership and one in league 2! Unemployment if rife and most people are on their **** financially. If you were 11-12 years old what football team would you begin to follow.

Port vale haven't averaged decent attendaces in years and now with STO it's going to get worse.

Stoke City are now an established premier league team and personally can't see them being relegated any time soon. Where will the next generation be attending because it won't be down vale park.

I understand people who hate the board and want investment but to not watch the team then IMO you are paving the way towards the death of PVFC!

Look at season ticket sales and look at how many of those are free tickets! The younger generation would rather watch Wayne Rooney than Justin Richards and I can't ever see us being on par with Stoke again.

It's really easy to say you won't attend blah blah blah but seriously have a think about the bigger picture. We need supporters and we need cash coming into the club so Micky has a chance of getting us out this league, when the board do go and if then it all goes **** up who are you then going to blame.. Sometimes you have to grit your teeth and ride through it!

A few things......

Firstly, if i was 11-12 years old i would support the vale because my father does.

We werent exactly the dogs ******** in the mid 80s when i started supporting Vale as a kid.

Secondly, you harp on about attendances not being good.

A 5500 average in recent seasons in division 4 is something to be proud of. Especially when you consider that "We are where we are"

Thirdly, we dont NEED supporters to be successful. Accy nearly got up on gates of 2000 and Stevenage did on gates of 3000!! So did Dagenham and Rochdale last year. Macc got promoted on gates of 1500 a few years back. Shall i go on??

Fourthly... Grit your teeth and ride through it??!!!

Most Vale fans teeth have eroded.

Thanks for the preaching session.

'We are where we are' is a phrase used by people when they realise that the situation they are currently in shouldn't have happened in the first place. However, rather than analyse what went wrong initially, the more pressing issue is to deal with the immediate crisis .

It's a reactive short term mindset, not a progressive long term strategy.

We've had 8 years of 'We are where we are'. QED.

The board are a disaster that has downgraded the football at Vale Park by sinking the club to the lowest of low league position, riddled it with debt and are virtually insolvent and are looking for further loans to survive.

We don't want more loans and more debt, we want investment that will make the club debt free and promote a higher standard of football that will take us through to league one and then into the championship.

The board will not entertain investment if it means losing their directorship position even at the expense of completely sinking the club.

Starving them of cash will bring them to their knee's faster so that the club can return from a downward kamikarzi spiral and start an upward trend with new investment.

No, no, no. I dont preach Grainger. I respect your decision in supporting the club at Vale Park. Why get so defensive? Why cant you respect my decision to not go Vale Park?

I may not be right.

You may not be right.

We both, however, believe we are doing the best for our football club.

Respect that.

Thats right you tend to support who your father supports . My son is a vale supporter and so are most of his mates and we are all season ticket holders and proud to be Vale. We are where we are and proud of it. Vale til we die

Im a Vale supporter and proud of it.

I will, without doubt, spend a small fortune next season in flying over for games.

I got to see 15 last season so i think im pretty commited due to my geographical location.

We are where we are and to be honest mate im not one bit proud of it.

I was brought up in the 90s on superb football with quality players and playing in 2 divisions higher.

Scunthorpe have recently been plying their trade there. I would be proud if we could get back up the pyramid.

Got to disagree with you on one point there. No matter where we are I will always proud to be Vale and live in hope my son can see them in a higher division and feel the emotion of getting promoted .

Youve got me wrong.

No matter if we were in the Evo stick premier league (god forbid) id still be proud to be a Vale supporter.

What i am not proud of is the fact that "We are where we are"

I will always be proud to be associated with Port Vale but i certainly arent proud in playing in the bottom tier of the English league.
