Why Do We Go?

There are currently a lot of campaigns around regarding us football fans for various reasons, although ticket price gets most of the attention. I am researching the reasons football fans attend as one aspect of my PhD. I need as many fans to fill out this survey (link below) as possible, so feel free to share with your football friends;

Why do people go to Football matches...I would have thought that was common sense

It really depends on when you ask the question "why do we go?"

After a drab uninspiring defeat the answer will be in opposite following a spirited victory.

Personally..... past memories and future hopes amalgamate, its a little tribal unity and a possibility, however distant, to share in the effort passion and spirit of the team.... and possibly the transportation from reality to fantasy for a couple of hours... a little escapism perhaps.

I have never fantasized about playing for Vale, I have never wanted to play football.
