And you can't afford to be successful in league 1 when you bring in 4 players and lose 10

Agreed. It is warm today though!

 

I remember a couple of seasons back when we played Bury away on the opening day of the season, they were well short of players due to a disruptive Summer and we beat them 1-0, it didn't look good for them but they ended up getting promoted...it's a long season and everything doesn't have to be right come August.

So we can stick within a realistic budget and spend beyond our budget?

 

For me....Vale stick within a realistic budget based on ST sales/other income, and finish lower mid table/above the relegation zone...all part of the building process at this level which will lead to better things in the longer term

 

Don't be purposely contrary- you know I meant that it is entirely possible to succeed on a low budget & fail on a big one

We need to stick to our budget and operate within our means if we are within touching distance and Smurf out of his own pocket decides to add that 1 extra player that gives us a chance then great. But I don't want a boom and bust situation. Lets build long term if you give a good manager time (like MA) then he will eventually get us to challenge for the play offs regularly and then who knows.

We have all seen teams go for broke over the years and narrowly miss out on promotion then end up in a mess.

Just because you don't make big money signings it doesn't always mean that you're solvent.

 

Valiant 2001 managed to live quite frugally and still take us into administration.
