Budget day........

I find all this quite fascinating...

Growth forecast up to 2.7% but then to drop off a little to 2.6 over next 4-5 years

Forecast borrowing surplus in 5 years time

Economy back to where it was in 2008 by end this year

Earnings expected to outstrip inflation by end 2014

We shall see on all the above as previous forecasts were somewhat optimistic..if all the above is true people should start to feel better off but as always there is a lag between things improving and that improvement filtering down to all

Planned fuel duty rise cancelled

Bingo duty halved

Tobacco duty to continue to rise 2% above inflation

Beer duty reduced

Alcohol duty escalator scrapped

Freeze duty on whiskey and ordinary cider

Personal tax allowance to rise to £10,500 next year...3m of lowest paid will pay no income tax at all

ISA limits increased

Tax restrictions on access to pension pots to be removed/reduced

10p tax rate for savers removed

Some good news for savers at last

Welfare cap set to 119bn 2015-16 and thenj set at inflation rate

Tax relief on football season ticket purchases

Now the response from Mr Milliband...

Working peole £1600 per year worse off since election

No comments specific to anything in the budget..just "cuts, chancellors chums, foodbanks, bankers, same old Tories, output down, old Etonians, bedroom tax".....nothing new. Has he forgotten we have been in a recession and the Chancellor has just announced his latest budget?

Ed has not used this opportunity well and that's very disappointing.

Now we await the detail on how this will affect people

Shameful behaviour from some Conservatives during Milliband's speech

They were pointing out that his speech was supposed to be a response to the budget, but like you say he wasn't responding he was making the same old sly digs.

Tax relief on football season ticket purchases?

I can cope with that .So will that tax relief come off the price of next season's ticket.Or will price stay the same meaning more money for the club.Or am i totally mistaken?

The poor get poorer.

Apart from (for example) the poor in work who will now pay less income tax

The rich with savings can get richer.

Everyone with savings can get richer

I expected nothing more from a Tory government. Farcical.

What was really farciical was Milliband's response....totally out of his depth
