Beckfords hand - Celebration. Robbie Earle's jog - God's Creation.

 

Wembley in a cup - Bernie Slaven. Wembley in the play off's- Swan's Red card realisation.

 

 

Foyle knocks it past the Stoke keeper - 3-1 ... Jubilation.

 

Vale in the 2nd tier - Pride. Rudge get's the sack - Tears......

 

Bell on his own - Administration. We are where we are - that's the situation.

 

Where could we be - Decide @ EGM June 1st 10:30 am........

Birdy put it so well when he said there’s nothing to compare with the excitement consequence of the first day of a new season, and in the above poem he captures much of what it means to football followers across the land: the emotions, the high hopes and expectations; catching up with old mates and making new friends; a jar or two; perhaps a pasty or pie; the several ‘Club and other raffles to participate in; getting hold of a copy of the local Fanzine; and much, much more.

Vale knocking 10 past Gateshead, being in the Hamil End with my old dad when we played Villa, telling their supporters why we would win (we lost!), Bertie Llewellyn with his barrel chest, Johnnie James chasing lost causes (and usually winning them), Sammy Morgan rising like a salmon to head home, beating Wigan at Old Trafford with a last minute goal, pitch invasion at Plough Lane even though we lost, losing at Cambridge 4-2 to be relegated (worst ever), Foyley's winning goal at Brighton with my wife and kids on my birthday (best ever), Tony Naylor's fantastic goals, Vale at Wembley three times...it's all a delirious blur!
