Firstly, Baines is a guaranteed starter, as Cole is out. Aside from that, the 2nd team is pretty much what I think he will play. And the experience of playing Lamps/Gerrard is a must for me. But at the same time, it's an absolute travesty that Carrick is likely going to be sat on the bench. Arguably our only player than can dictate the pace of a game of football, at slow or fast pace. he would be ideal tonight. If we go a couple of goals ahead, he would be the perfect player to come on for Lampard/Milner. Milner. He can **** right off as well!!!!

 

An absolute GODSEND tonight is that of Cleverley being ruled out! Hallelujah!!!!

Not a big fan of Milner but I suppose he does provide cover for Walker when he bombs on.Would love to see Baines score one from a free-kick.

As for Carrick - He had a good season last year but I've never been convinced. I can't remember ever seen him boss a game against a decent side, dictating the pace. And he's so slow at times I actually think tortoise-esque Gareth Barry could beat him in a 100 metre sprint!

Come off it, Beechy! Slower than Barry? Christ, bit harsh on Carrick that is. And how often (in recent years) have you seen ANY England player 'boss' games against the big nations? Carrick is as good as we've got in keeping possession. Like it or not. Against Montenegro, he would undoubtedly dictate the play and keep the ball moving in the right direction.

 

Anyway, Adrian Durham has just said that there is strong talk of Andros Townsend starting!!! Massive shout by Woy that is. But I had a feeling he'd go with him. Hopefully it's in place of James Milner, and we plan to attack them.
