I don't know of any but good luck if you do pursue it; I had some lessons a few years back at of all places Biggin Hill and it was amazing. Wish I'd pursued it further

Cheers Johnny, so you would recommend it. Flying is something I've always wanted to do, both as a hobby and as a career pilot. The only thing that has put me off is that I previously believed that you needed really high maths grades i.e. A* and maths A levels and the high cost of the ATPL licence. However I have recently discovered that only an understanding of maths and physics and a minimum grade C is alls that is required to become a professional pilot, qualifications which fortunately I hold. I've looked into quite a few things recently, fire service, police service, even football scouting but nothing came of any. This is something I've always wanted to do tough, so as lifes to short to wonder what if, gonna go for it when I've finished uni.

I was seriously looking at getting the training and licence and buying a plane with a bunch of friends/colleagues and pursuing a career/business as a pilot. Hence I took some lessons

However, my computer consultancy business 'took off' (ha ha) and so I pursued that instead

But it was great fun and i am sure would have lead to something interesting and very worthwhile. Too old and kna@ckered to pursue it now

Go for it!!

There's Sleap airfield just near Wem. They do PPL & IMC licenses, decent sized paved airfield.

How old are you? I recommend keeping an eye on this website for opportunities that pop up (very rarely but they do) http://www.flightdeckfriend.com/#!cadet-airline-pilot-programs/c930

I've applied to the Aer Lingus one that closed a few weeks ago, should be hearing back in the next week or so if I've been selected for an interview.

The RAF is an option but there's the minimum 12 or whatever years and also there's no guarantee if you're selected that you'll get a heavy/fast jet placement, you could be lumped with the Helicopters.

FTE Jerez/Oxford Aviation Academy/Baltic AA etc.. provide the ATPL money for you offset against a property in the UK and a small interest repayment.

20 (21 in September), however, still got another year at uni so when I come to becoming a career pilot I'll be 21 going on 22. Cheers for the advice Doha, assume your a pilot yourself. Will definitely explore all options, I'll probably look to get experience in all types of aircraft as I'd even like to try my hand as a police helicopter pilot some day.

In the meantime until I finish uni next year I want to get some flight hours in the bag.

You can try airways Airspprts near Darley Moore Ashbourne .

They do teach just about everything to do with flying.

I'm not sure they teach in a cessner though, but deffo worth giving them a ring.

Cheers Lawrence, thats not too far neither. Nah doesn't have to be a Cessna, just a light aircraft to get me started.

One of my neighbours son has recently learned to fly in small aircraft so i'll get her to ask him where he had his lessons. I'm pretty sure it was local.

Cheers Caz, would be great that. Thanks an all Doha, you seem like you know your stuff and are a useful person to know lol.

Whichever way you go young man I wish you well..... its impressive to see a little ambition and a little out of the box thinking.... good luck to you

Cheers Geo, always been a person who see's a brighter future. Always believed theres a way to achieve a comfortable life, doing something you enjoy for a living if you believe enough and work hard enough. Want to prove to myself I can do it now, thats probably why I ended up going uni. I'm only the second person in my family to go uni actually. Want to be in a position to set myself and my family up someday.
