  1. As Smurthwaite said "football is a village" maybe our DOFs reputation discourages players from signing.
  2. We are currently struggling because we have spent too much money, a lot of that was at Clarkes instigation, paying off players under contract, desperate signings like Hussey, digging up the pitch, changing home ends etc. I think my judgement is sound. You are obviously entitled to your own opinion, this is a discussion forum for opinions. 🙂
  3. We have changed too much too quickly, even in the Bruno season we still kept a core of previous players. Evolution not revolution is the normal procedure for success in football. I expect it says that in Rudgies book. I don't think we should still have Luke Joyce in midfield but we now have a squad of players who mostly have no affinity to the club and it shows.
  4. When I saw the thread title "League 1 relegation watch" I thought it was going to be an new item stocked in the shop to celebrate returning to League 2.
  5. You forgot the third, lack of competence
  6. He is not what we need right now though, he needs a preseason to get up to speed. He will be returning to his parent club by the time he has had a run in the team.
  7. He looked exactly what he is, a technically gifted young player with zero experience of mens football.
  8. History is littered with failures who had a plan...
  9. Gore and Weir might have been OK with a preseason but they don't look ready to battle now.
  10. We are part of the 92, we are part of the 72, lol
  11. What do you mean "at the moment" we haven't been prolific for quite a while apart from the odd blip. Goal difference says it all.
  12. I still don't think that Clarke was either decent or the right choice. He was backed to the hilt and decimated our squad by bringing in his yes men players. We are struggling now because the soul has been ripped out of the squad. None of the players other than Smith and the kids have any affinity to Port vale and it shows. Everyone reveres John Rudge, his skill was gradually evolving the squad by replacing the worst players with better players over time so that there was continuity. Everything bad that happens to a club managed by Clarke is someone elses fault and everything good is down to him, in his mind anyway. Look at Walsall after he spent all their money wrecking their squad and then bailed out. I have nothing personal against Darrell, he is just a dreamer like Flitcroft.
  13. Didn't notice anything in the Lorne Street, not sure about outside the main entrance. I think the 5000 crowd said it all really.
  14. Nothing to do with the fact that Flitcroft is involved in the construction industry of course...
  15. We need players who can play now rather than at some unspecified point in the future if we don't sell them first. A number of development players in the squad is fine if you have a core of senior professional players to support them.
  16. Or ask Dave. He probably has some idea of the situation at Bury.
  17. We don't need new facilities, we played a game on Tuesday night so the current facilities must meet the minimum requirements to stage a fixture. New facilities are a "nice to have" rather than a requirement.
  18. We are in the relegation positions in the league table and have an unbalanced and threadbare squad plus no manager. Football is a results led business and we are not achieving them. Flitcroft is supposed to be responsible for all football related matters.
  19. Because they have the demand. We have too many seats already. Beyond getting a safety certificate money spent on the ground to the detriment of the squad is not so urgent.
  20. Shame that Carol is obviously blind to Dave's incompetence.
  21. I expect it is difficult to accept that she has made a massive error of judgment by appointing Flitcroft and doesn't know how to rectify the situation without losing face.
  22. Who needs that though? I try to take myself away from situations where I can feel myself getting angry at things I can't change. I used to go to football to get away from the stresses of life, hasn't been like that for a while.
  23. Lucky he knew someone with a building company...
