I think we had some more committed players such as Dave Worrall and James Gibbons but we let them go.

It wasn't said in jest. Good research 😄

It is a shame that DF didn't follow the pattern of ambitious, but with limited ability, managers in the corporate world. Stay in a post for two years, ride the good work of the previous manager initially and then jump ship before your incompetence becomes too obvious.

They were also not having a good game from the referees perspective according to my mate who was there. He said it was 10 against 12. -

I guess that is the danger, survive in League 1 and it makes it harder to get him out. -

Difficult since he isn't even on the bench... -
It isn't that simple though, you need the demand to match the supply. Is that there?
-
He didn't seem to play much at Aberdeen either...

Do you mean "why is Moore not playing him"? 🧐 -
Not much parking there though?
-
Are you sure? 😊

We did but we haven't really benefitted from it. Football has been pretty dreadful ever since and we are rapidly headed back to League 2 with a disenfranchised support.

The point is that these players were recruited after a big show of clearing out the deadwood. I think using the term has inadvertently meant that we have only recruited players who couldn't find anywhere better rather than actually wanting to play for Vale. Which is why they are not very good.
-
I think while we continue to use terms like "deadwood" we will always struggle to recruit players. It suggests a mindset which doesn't value them. I know that players are mostly interested in money but team spirit is needed too.

I don't think there is a master plan, just a series of poor decisions have lead us to the brink of relegation. I feel strangely calm this morning now it is clear that we are going to be relegated. Dipepas goal yesterday got me off my feet but the players didn't respond by going on to win.

I think we will if they do it alphabetically...

I can't see anything changing, the public denouncement of David Flitcroft makes it more difficult to dispense with his services I suspect.
