  1. It may well be that DF's hands were tied for various financial reasons, wage structure, signing on fees, agents fees etc.
That, along with actually getting players interested in joining Vale and moving to this area could well be stumbling blocks for many a signing.
I'm not trying to defend DF but we are all pretty guilty of "assuming" and yes, the last 3 transfer windows go a long way to adding to what we percive to be failure on his part.
Maybe now that Carol and the top brass are possibly looking at things from a different perspective as discussed at the meeting, aligned with perhaps new investment and the new managers wishes, DF may find another role within the club, or have a better base to work from when trying to attract players - Carol obviously sets a great deal of store with DF and maybe he's not entirely to blame.
Let's hope that whether or not DF is involved in recruitment going forward to next season, its for League One players we are chasing.
    UTV
I'm sure aswell that there has been a certain amount of 'waiting' to return to form after the 7 games earlier this season. Hoping it will come good again as it's pretty much the same group of lads
  2. I commend the Shanahan's for having such a meeting as it can improve and maintain the contact and relationship with the club's customer/fan base as long as the fans understand their place in this.  However, the downside is that if the "baying mob" don't get their way things can slide downhill even quicker and it can undermine the position of the leader of the organization.
For all the titles Carole is the leader of PVFC, she appoints leaders of various departments to help her get the job done and achieve objectives at PVFC. Every business has one leader who listens to their reports and makes decisions on which they swim or sink. A business cannot be run by committee or a group of fans as ask 10 people a question and usually 10 different answers will be received.
Carol will know what's caused the Vale to be in the relegation zone of Lge 1, she doesn't need consultants to tell her it's poor recruitment. She will also know the Lge position and remaining in Lge 1 are the two objectives that carry the most weight by far for the club, not training pitches or the Bycars bogs and internally she will be thinking to herself and talking to others to find out why, what are the reasons the recruitment has been so poor this last 4 windows and working/making plans to rectify it somehow.
Out of this whole sorry mess it will be a disaster for PVFC if the Shanahan's decided to sell up now, the finger points at Flitcroft for the poor recruitment but Carol may decide it's the size of the budget, the wage cap etc that's the problem or something related. Lessons have to be learned from this to ensure it doesn't happen again.
I appeal to fans to be patient with Carol as she has a track record of making the right decisions at the appropriate time. I just wish I had 5 million quid to gift the club.

Nice one Paul. Nice and level headed

  3. For the first time in months I’ve spent 4 days not once thinking about Port Vale. It’s been lovely.
I genuinely think we could all do with a break. It’s all very intense and fractious. I dread to think what the mood is like in the Shanahan household
The summer cannot come quickly enough - whatever the division.
Yeah me too. So much for 'drama free Vale' it's relentless
  4. bump
Two fks given 'big' Brian. People don't dance to your merry tune, you resort to ridicule, just like to 10 year old lads crying at games when Vale lose.
You literally can't handle it. Bless ya

  5. Absolutely applaud all the beautiful bouncing valiants, but it's a no from me. Leek Town next season, but will probs still have an ifollow season ticket.
Just had enough of the toxicity and never ending drama - I can almost accept the football as we are the vale after all.
Having said all that, I'll probs see you all in the Hamil in August
The drama is endless and draining tbh. Just hoping that one day it may just stop and we can be a relatively 'normal' football club! It can't go on for ever like this, surely

  6. Today was a free hit.
Only we can't afford free hits, got about 7 or 8 weeks left of the season to turn it round, and everything I feared about the manager is coming to fruition.

Yeah it's kind of clutching at straws. Lose to Shrewsbury it's Defo curtains. Beat Shrewsbury, it's just delaying the inevitable and giving us false hope.
I'd like to know if DM seriously thinks/thought he can turn this around or if he's part of some sort of relegation plan to get us back up ASAP.
  7. Yet, you question my attendance

Thing is Brian I really, really don't have to explain myself to you, in any way shape or form.
I'll be there Sat as always just to drag the season ticket out.
  8. Oh well we had a spirited effort for 10 mins. Amazing what an actual striker can do. Don't think he's touched the ball apart from that goal. But it doesn't matter as he's only there to score goals tbh so he's done his job .
Obviously we had to gift them the obligatory defensive blunder of a goal in the opening minutes, just to make sure we definitely won't win and to make it as difficult as possible for us to try and get anything out of the game at all.
Love us to get 3 but it's never happening!

  9. Big shout out to all travelling Valiants today. Safe journey and hope you all get something out of your support. I'm sorry to admit that I'm giving it a miss. Too depressed with the whole Club at present. Felt I needed a break. UTV. SVA.
Same mate. Kind of wish I was going now with that many SVA in attendance
  10. Don't see the point in booing them or constantly pointing out they aren't good enough. If their not good enough they're not good enough, that's not their fault.
The fault lies else where as to who actually thought they were good enough and got them in.

  11.
People who refuse to criticise Carol in any shape or form are deluded numpties, in my opinion. There's plenty of them here. I'm not judging anyone based on their actual overall character seeing as I don't know those people personally, but that should be pretty obvious. I'm also sure you've been called much worse at times throughout your life than a "biddy" for crying out loud.
    Blimey
  12. I won't excuse the individual errors as they were criminal and he's right in some ways in his interview when he says we seem to get punished where other teams get lucky.
We do have a very rigid squad with not much room for flexibility and by signing "good eggs" we seems to be completely devoid of any absolute nastiness thats sometimes needed out there to see games through to win.
I do think Moore has to take some proportion of the blame though as at half time Adam switched up the shape and designed it to get balls into Stockley and it came up trumps for him.
I sit right at the back of the Hamil and you could see the repeated pattern, whether it was left wing or right wing, they high pressed with a triangle and one would eventually whip a cross in with pace rather than float it in. Designed to cause panic and pressure.
    Our responses were the following:
    1) Clip it out for a corner
    2) Half clear it away to their two awaiting centre mids who mopped up every single second ball, and either had a crack at goal themselves or fed it wide so the move starts all over again
This went on for the entire second half, and even though he changed personnel, he did nothing to change that shape. For me he's just hoping we hold out there, and if you let a team dominate the ball like that and have the ball constantly in the box, the law of averages says one will go in.
    Another tough pill to swallow
Good post Nodge. My thoughts exactly

  13. Ah it’s only taken four games for the usual clowns to want Moore out.
This ship was sunk long before he arrived and I’ll judge him come this time next year. Plenty of effort tonight but not enough quality which sums up most our games in 2024. Had we got a forward like Stockley we’d have stayed up instead we signed no one other than Loft.
i hope when Carol sits down with DF to review this season, she doesn’t accept his woeful performance in the transfer market.
It's not Moore out by any stretch of the means. What tactics did you see second half that were effective, along with subs? Yes the squad is threadbare. But to capitulate like that in the second half, after a positive first half is very questionable. We all saw it and all thought exactly the same. Wtf is going on!!!
  14. Farcical and diabolical second half. Not convinced by big D at all atm.
Gonna get ripped a new one Saturday, make no mistake.
Its the inability to close and the standing off that's just veering on insane.
Surely his halftime talk wasn't keep it tight at the back and let them come at you, we're 2/0 up they aren't getting any goals. We've got this?
Has he literally not watched any Vale games where we sit back and actively encourage a complete bombardment on our fragile defence and weak af midfield.
Just keep at them and Press or something ffs. No, let's just let them do exactly what they want for 45 minutes. Completely naive and possibly out of his depth. Even at little old Port Vale
