  1. Rhys was not a viable option in the position we were in. His limited appearances have more than shown that. I will judge Moore next season when he’s had a pre season and hopefully given the opportunity for a clear out.
  2. That’s why I said during those games. Those 1st 3 were tough because it was Sat Tues Sat so it was difficult period to change too much. We’’ve conceded goals and lost games because of poor individual errors rather than the team setup in my view. Garrity has had to play deeper because there is no midfield and Uche has had his chances but time again shows he’s not a goal scorer. Ironically we really could have done with Garrity playing off him but when your choice of midfield partner is Jenson Weir it’s a no brainer to drop Garrity deeper. Point is manager has had very very limited options.
  3. During this run of games I thought we were. Considering the players at Crosby’s disposal and Moore I personally think it’s a very unfair comparison.
  4. Yes Ollie going back was the beginning of the end and not bringing in a LWB and ST sealed the deal.
  5. I’ve got a different take with negative tactics. I thought Moore made us compact, better organised and we started keeping clean sheets and managed a few results. Once we had to win and be more positive on the front foot we were very easily picked off and conceded goals for fun. I think this is the main reason our home record is atrocious. Combine that with a team which finds it very difficult to score I honestly don’t think DM had a choice. History has shown us when we concede 1st we lose so the only way to combat that is to sit in, keep a clean sheet and play for setpieces. If we had pace we could counter attack but that’s just another story of our arrogant recruitment. The difference with Crosby teams though we had a very good midfield with Blaster and Devine so we could keep the ball and try and attack. DM hasn’t had that luxury. The squad he inherited was significantly worse than Crosby’s plus Ojo has been sulking and stopped playing. Generally we ended up with a very poor group of players, one of the worst in my lifetime.
  6. To me this is why we need a complete clear out along with players under contract. Move as many on a possible. Release everyone out of contract, those under contract put on the transfer list. It’s the only way to change the culture.
  7. I’d prefer Micheal Smith on the end of crosses from Jack Shorrock and James Plant.
  8. That’s so wide of the mark you clearly don’t know much about National Leagues.
  9. Players like Grant it’s feasible for L1 clubs to takeover the contract unless the players want to sit in reserves of L2 and pick up money. That would be my choice to them…. Unless of course other L1 clubs look at his record last 2 seasons.😀 If we were still in L1 it would be different and they would the contract paying up but dropping a division we could use to our advantage.
  10. I don’t buy into Carol needs to fund a promotion. Personally don’t feel that’s the best way to build a squad. We will have a top 10 budget anyway in L1 due to the nature of clubs. I’d prefer to get rid of every single current player and get seasoned pros around Shorrock,Dipepa,Plant,Walter’s and Lomax. Find clubs to take existing players contracts on other than the obvious assets worth a bit of money to sell on. A clear out is necessary to get rid of a losing nice guy culture over the past 2 years.
  11. 3 clubs he’s done well with. 2 of those had big resources in relation to the league competing in. This season looks 2 poor outcomes however at both clubs he’s not had much of a transfer window to bring in his own players so I do think it’s a bit harsh judging him on both Huddersfield and Vale. I would also point to the fact Huddersfield have continued to look a poor team despite a transfer window and a new manager. That’s suggests the problem wasn’t necessarily the manager but poor players for the level… sounds familiar! I can’t argue with you on the outcome of tactics but for balance he has tried every single formation to get these players going and it’s just not worked out. The quality of the players is just not there nor is the squad depth. This current squad is the worst we have ever had in L1 and I think would struggle to get mid table in L2 I don’t think Moores deficiency is tactical to be honest. It’s not as if he’s been wed to a particular system like we’ve seen many managers before him. He just doesn’t have the tools as his disposal.
  12. Carol’s accountability will be funding 1mil + income black hole for L2 football. If lessons are learnt going backwards to move forwards can sometimes be a good thing although it certainly doesn’t feel like it at the moment. In my view this summer will be the biggest during Carol’s reign.
  13. At last some common sense on here. The reason most clubs struggle financially is because the owners lose interest OR their primary business starts to run out of money. Every club in the land, except 4, plan to loose money but increase the businesses value through CAPEX investments. The rest is a decision on wages and whether to fund overspend and convert this into a share issue or an interest free loan. I think it’s pretty obvious our priority as a club has not been on the pitch. That has to change if we are to become a stable L1 club.
  14. This is fact. I not going to say how I know but here are the facts. Colin was contracted to stay with the club to help the transition for Carol and Kevin so they could learn the ropes before doing it ‘their way’. He was due to leave after the pre season anyway but it was bought forward to March because It was unnecessary for him to stay beyond the end of season following structures implemented. The club felt well prepared and informed to tackle pre season duties without his experience. A good man wasn’t tossed aside as you keep putting put it. Please stop peddling this line. It is incorrect. A CEO leaving is not the reason the ship is sinking.
  15. It’s got nothing to do with Colin. It was a bit <ovf censored> and very corporate though how he left. What was worse was how Colin was left to his own devices at half time to say an emotional goodbye. Not a single soul on the pitch with him which I thought was very distasteful. This tells you everything how the club is run at the top. Colin’s enjoying retirement in a sunny climate.
  16. We were desperate for a cheap loan and our previous DoF was obsessed with PL2 player market. Weir was also terrible for Blackpool this season and struggled to get in their side. Poor player. A good example of football nepotism.
  17. I’m neutral with Moore. He inherited Flitcrofts squad, a team full of nice guys who are losers. The squad he was left to work with is pretty embarrassing, quality wise. Limited is probably the best way to describe it. I really don’t think he’s had much to work with and don’t see how anyone could keep this group up. I’ve always tried to be positive as much as possible since he arrived but it was always out of hope. If Moores up for the challenge of a rebuild in L2 then I would be happy for him to do it. If Moore leaves I don’t trust Carol to make the right appointment.
  18. He is absolutely <ovf censored>. He will never ever get anywhere near your 1st team and will be very lucky to play above L2 level next season.
  19. Thankfully I’ve not been able to see our last 2 home games. Looks like we are getting what we what we deserve in relegation. The stats on the season are horrendous. Carol has really <ovf censored> up in my view. Placed too much trust in a DoF who looked like he had all the money and power with unequivocal support and unquestioned, shows more interest in community awards and personal honours than the football side. With piss poor recruitment and extremely top heavy costs in non playing football staff this is a very avoidable relegation which I think is completely self inflicted due to poor decision making by her. Major rethink needed of football structures within the back room teams, to more wisely spend, what’s going to be minimum a reduction of 1million budget. I would try and offload every single player except lads from the academy to rebuild. This group of players are losers. No winning mentality with senior players demanding standards. Too many players in this squad have previous relegation on CV’s. The jury’s also out on the manager for me. The players he inherited are <ovf censored>, I think this is why subs always make us worse but this is Flitcroft’s vision of L1 players so it’s unfair to judge him on this season. I do have a nagging doubt though…the way he talks in press conferences about ‘Port Vale Football Club’ rather than ‘we’ makes me believe he has a relegation release clause. If that’s the case and he does go I’d be very concerned Carol can make the right appointment.
  20. You don’t have any costs outsourcing ramping up or down your resources. There is a reason we are an outlier in the EFL with this approach.
  21. Yeh I get that in 1 year is a change but 2 years running is a bit much. I personally think it’s bad business to bring services in house. You may have an operation saving cost but you can’t ramp up and down quickly depending on circumstances as you increase your employee liabilities fore redundancies etc. should the worse happen. Vale are an outlier in the football league on this approach.
  22. Put this into context.... Shrew bury Town employed in 2022 166 staff and 182 in 2023. Crazy, absolutely crazy.
  23. Don't forget the from 115 staff in 2021 to 246 in 2022 !!! Are we really spending money in the right way? Do we really have the right priorities as a club?
