I like carol , I think she is great but I think it would be beneficial if she takes more control on the football side of things rather than put most of her efforts into social side of the things at the club , because flitcroft has got to much clout at the vale for my liking at the moment.

She brought DF in because she wasn't confident at running the club...only in running the business side.

    First bit is right.

We don’t have any money. It’s as simple as that. We have a bottom 4 budget  despite what people are saying. Our highest paid player is probably on the least out of all the league in terms of a clubs top earner.

How do you know so much about our budget and players' wages??? - or, is it just BS you've guessed at?

We either don't have enough money to compete in this league

Or we have enough and haven't performed well with our signings

Or we are doing fine. Competitive in this league and our signings are working?

I personally feel we do have money to be competitive - not top 7 but midtable. I also think we have some good players and I agree with the way the club are investing in the long term and the facilities. But I also feel we are underperforming on the pitch. What do you think?

I don't think we will get relegated, that's for sure...no matter where we are now.

I feel we can compete against most clubs of our size in this League...but injuries haven't helped, all season - Uche even getting injured during the transfer window; nor have the various postponements we've had.  And losing Ollie and Alfie when they were supposed to be here all season! It's all disruptive and no wonder we've struggled!

Your reply makes more sense than the "spending our money badly" one I first replied to!

What he's saying is that things off the pitch are seeming to take precedent over things on the pitch. All the fan zone, hot dogs, community hub, etc.. are great. But they're pointless and will bring in nowt if no one is coming because the first team is <ovf censored> and we're losing every week.

    I know how to read.

Things like the fan zone can't be taking precedence over players because they're from different budgets! If "pointless" things bring in extra money for the club, then they're not pointless - are they? And we're not losing every week - yes, we lost on Saturday...after 16 mins of football in 3 weeks and playing the top side who, maybe, were in poor form, but they're still top for a reason...and us having lost 2 of our best players! And we lost to a penalty that never was, 6 minutes from time.

Good points IC! The village idiots on here don't think things through!

Seriously they don't seem as bothered,   I don't think league tables or results are looked at.

    Apparently we have good losses...

...Not concerned with fanzones, rollover hotdogs, face painting, DJ ( who just seems to amuse himself), or old folks bingo. I want to see a team on the pitch with desire and intent.

Too often we are able to predict what will happen ( Saturday a case in point).

All the extras and goodwill are great . But ultimately I pay for my 2 season tickets to see the action on the pitch. And it's poor fayre.

Does any of that affect what happens on the pitch? Or, might it help to bring a little more money into the Club?

Not sure if your recovery after a dislocation reference is tongue in cheek or wishful thinking but there is a possibility we won’t see Uche play for us  again this season (or after for that matter). Anything between 6 weeks and 3 months depending on the nature of the dislocation and the sport is what a professional athlete has to consider. Would think a footballer, especially one with Uche’s ‘style of play’, would be closer to the 3 month mark for them to be 100% ‘fit’.

Correct: "You can stop wearing the sling after a few days, but it takes about 12 to 16 weeks to completely recover from a dislocated shoulder. You'll usually be able to resume most activities within two weeks. You should avoid heavy lifting and sports involving shoulder movements for between six weeks and three months."

The commentators in the game, the studio guests who have all played at the highest level of the game then other people that have managed & played in the Premier League were saying that teams like Middlesbrough should not be playing that way.

They were saying that it should only be the elite teams that should be playing that way because they have the players to do it.

It's still opinion-based, Brian. And some of these pundits don't seem to realize that diving is cheating...in their opinions? Nor that wrestling someone to the ground, or dragging them down by their shirts have no place in football - but they do in wrestling / rugby?  And - like I asked earlier - did Middlesbrough break with their usual style of play, just for this one-off game...or did those individual errors contribute their usual, inconsistent game  - which has seen them comfortably in mid-table, winning and losing the same amount of games

Exactly. Not seen anything like this in a while. Teams you would call small with a championship to premire league budget.

I just meant it wouldn't make the League any more difficult - just the same as it's been since we got back in it!

I'm afraid I'm not privvy to the budget but there are players in the squad who don't justify their wages.

If you don't know what we're spending, or where, then you're not qualified to make that statement! In any squad there will be less successful signings. But - are you just blaming those who don't score, or don't create chances? Or also blaming those who are injured and can't contribute to the team, so are not justifying their wages either?

Can't beat that for taking your chances. 2 shots on goal and 2 goals.  Our strikers would need 400 strikes on goal to get a goal.

They were well taken goals as well.  Specially the first one.

I was likening us to Ipswich, and the games when we've had dozens of shots and not scored - whilst the opposition has scored with each shot they've had! Wish we could be that cynical!

Spend your money how you like but don’t bleat about the club not investing and then not invest your own money into the club.  Anyway, if you really are a season ticket holder of 55 years you’ve seen it all before so why go soft now?  Attention seeking?

Feel most sorry for Dipepa, because he's always being brought on when we're chasing a goal. So he's literally being asked to do a job he's nowhere near ready for yet.  Just goes to show how lacking our recruitment has been up top, when we have to rely on a kid who's not ready, and then spin it into 'good development'. Mental that is!

He'll be loving the chance to get minutes in a game, and knows he'll be a hero if he scores...no need to feel sorry for him!

No doubt league one wages are higher than league two. That being said, we have less of our own players now and youth players will be on a much lower wage than the squad players of league two during our promotion season.

I think we are spending our money badly.

How much are we spending badly?

  16. 16 hours ago, MBE said:

Can we please stop this narrative  where’s the money . The club made a 1 million loss to get promotion despite getting to Wembley and the record shirt sales.
How much do you think we lost without getting to Wembley with largely the same squad last season? Uptick in attendances did not cover it.

As for academy sales, that money is put back into the academy budget so it’s self funding and doesn’t require additional investment . This has been stated over and over again by Will Ryder and Flicker.

There are only a couple of halfwits who continue this narrative!

Let's hope we do splash the cash. I'm very worried about wrexham and stockport once they are up here. They have very talented players and some very good strikers.

Not much different to Bolton and Derby, who they will likely replace?

Fairly ironic you made that statement - one of the best teams in our League, last season, and doing ok in the Championship! They ended this game having had more than 30 shots - Maidstone had 2...sound familiar?

They completely messed up playing from the back & GK which cost them goals. They got slaughtered by former managers & players for playing that way

Yes...but they made too many individual errors. They would have lost whichever style they tried to play, making that many mistakes!

Incidentally - did they change their playing style for that game only? Or, had the way they've played all season been let down by those individual errors?

I like the optimism, but this idea we were “scouted” because of our abilities as a club that can nurture talent is a load of bull that Flitcroft has spun us for. I hope it works, but I will take his ability to talk well with a huge pinch of salt.

Man United currently have numerous players on loan at a range of clubs as follows:

44MFEngland ENGDan Gore (at Port Vale)[231

    ]48DFEngland ENGWill Fish (at Hibernian)[232

]52FWEngland ENGJoe Hugill (at Burton Albion)[

233]66DFEngland ENGRhys Bennett (at Stockport County)[234

]68MFPoland POLMaxi Oyedele (at Forest Green Rovers)[235]

    Liverpool

28FWPortugal PORFábio Carvalho (at Hull City until 30 June 2024)[149]

45GKBrazil BRAMarcelo Pitaluga (at St Patrick's Athletic until 30 November 2024)[150

]46DFEngland ENGRhys Williams (at Port Vale until 30 June 2024)[151]

72DFNetherlands NEDSepp van den Berg (at Mainz 05until 30 June 2024)[152]

Not really the mega coup being touted about. Are all these other clubs, Burton, Forest Green, Stockport all specially selected? In fact, all of his peers are on loan at a level below or equal to us. So the idea we have become a pull for a load of Championship level youngsters isn’t true. They are u23 players in teams we often stuff in paint point games.

There is no special “scouting magic” that has made us more appealing. We used to get players in from Nottingham Forest quite often under Askey in league 2, it just happens that now we are in league 1, the youngsters can now come from the Prem.

The only reason any Prem team would be keen to loan their youth players is for games. The reason we can offer them guaranteed football is because we have a glaring shortage of quality in first team areas as we have not bought our own guys in.

Anything else is just Flitcroft fairy tales and decent PR spin. I admit we are far better at that these days.

Love that you don't mind calling DF a liar, in black and white!

Obviously, Prem teams want their players to get games...they aren't going to loan them to be a part of the furniture! Just a thought - was it you, recently, who said something like "get any old rubbish in, as long as they fill gaps"? If it wasn't you, I apologise? If it was you - I prefer the way we work now! Don't let your obvious loathing for DF - and, probably the role of DoF  - sway you away from what's happening with the Vale. It seems you don't care if we are becoming a well-liked and respected club? Just as long as we play Popeball all the time and sack off this modern version of football?
