2 positions that we are well covered- center back and center midfield. Everywhere else we have been short this season, certainly over indexed in center midfield.

Flitcroft used to be a center midfielder as a player, Crosby a Center defender. Any coincidence?

Hoping to play a faster system, bringing in a couple of extra midfielders to change things around made sense. As for the LWB position, Mitch Clarke could have played there, with talk of bringing Gibbo back...but, of course, Mitch is another first-choicer injured!

They may actually go up in price as selling club knows people will need strikers.  Last chance to make money from them.

As they say - trust the process.  😭

But, some will be out of contract in the Summer and clubs may take a smaller sum than risk him leaving for nothing?

Blocked BJ and Valiiant a long time ago. My OVF site is much the better for it.

Valliant is marginally worse than our Brian! Occasionally...very occasionally...Bri posts something that makes you think he may actually be a vale fan?

Hahaha, even though I was ahead of the game when I said how bad we were after struggling to beat Northampton with the sideways tippy tappy crap. Now more and more fans seem to agree. Results proving me right even though I hate it. Really hoping to be proved wrong so I can eat humble pie. I just don't understand why I saw it and nobody else could, maybe it's because I am away from home while Vale fans were whipping each other up into euphoria during the 'good run' of results.

Crosby needs to go so a new manager can improve the squad in January. Last January we declared on 35 points and sat back, we have done it earlier this year, unless a change happens PDQ we are royally shafted.

"Tippy tappy crap"...or football, as we call it, and as opposed to the Aussie Rules you seem to want?  Fans are only agreeing with you, now, because a team shorn of confidence is struggling...even though we could / should have won at least two of the League games, in this spell. A single goal could have made so much difference to this run, and I don't believe your looking-glass actually predicted results would turn this way? If it's that good you ought to be a Lottery millionaire!

And how are you defining "I question which of us been ignored my (I think you might mean by??)

Virtually every post you have made over the past week or so, needed a swear filter because of the way you are going at people.

You are the one prolonging it out by responding.🤷‍♂️

Eee our Bri...you are a daft bugger!

    I wasn't defining anything, Bri - I was asking a question!

You know, people might take you slightly more seriously if you weren't on some weird one man mission to constantly defend the club. You're coming across as a bit mental.

I ought to have mentioned in my reply to this that most of my posts are NOT in defence of the club, but are rebuttals to other posters' lies, fake news, idiotic comments, poor interpretation of statistics and just plain badly-thought out posts...just as some of yours are mr h!

retaliate in kind????🤣🤣🤣 You are the most abusive person on here. How you have not been banned on here is beyond me

I question which of us has been ignored my most people? You are arrogant, aggressive and abusive to most of the posters to whom you reply, yet consider yourself to be a sweet, innocent little lamb! Baaa

Also - as I expected, and dreaded, you are prolonging this for much longer than necessary, and more than other people need to read. If you want to continue this "discussion" please feel free to PM me?

I did put the caveat it was still an outstanding achievement. All I'm saying probably not eloquently is that on paper ( which as you say is no guarantee) we have had an easy path. I feel it's masked our league standing and had we gone out at Mansfield we may of now had a new incumbent? Pure speculation and irrelevant as we won with a fantastic display.

Correct - and the route to the QF was only an easy one, in hindsight. We could, at any time in the past, have lost any of those games?

Know nothing about the guy other than he is a midfielder. Anyone else out there think we ought to be looking at strikers, preferably ones who score goals?

We should also be looking at available and talented players for development...regardless of their position? Get a season, or more, out of them then sell on for a profit is the model we are looking to establish!

From what I've observed since it's been in general use "woke" is a term of abuse for people the user doesn't agree with.

I think it's more like people being offended on behalf of someone else who hasn't said they would feel offended in the first place?* It's also about pre-empting someone being offended over something inoffensive...like the word "Christmas", which doesn't seem to be offensive to anyone who isn't a Christian, yet there are people who have tiptoed around this for several years. My (Asian) newspaper shop always respond to me saying "Whatever you celebrate, have a lovely Christmas holiday period" by thanking me, shaking hands with me and wishing me a Merry Christmas.

    * There are plenty of genuine examples - look at the people who have fallen foul of the "cancel culture" - they're not all raving Right-wingers!!!

Show Spurs how well we have looked after Devine then pitch for his club and international team mate Dane Scarlett. He’s a really dynamic player and would be excellent for us.

Agree...and I hope how Alfie and Ollie have done will make it easier to loan top Prem club's players for the future? Didn't Forest use around 6 loanees in their promotion season?

This is an impossible statement to make.

You don't know how they would have done at Vale - different styles/locations/settling in periods etc etc

Personally I think we'd have been stronger with any of those.

But - by your own statement (almost) - impossible to be certain!

    Very true.

To be fair Stockton and Walker have been injured most of the season to date ,Presley can't get in the team, JCH sulking he didn't get one last pay day, Tyrese Simpson thinks he's a baller and therefore doesn't need to work hard because he had a good 3 months in L2 and Dale Taylor is not a proven goal scorer.

I would still love to have Stockton in our squad.

Also to be fair, our own strikers have had injuries!

No vendetta here and yes I do appreciate the quality of players we have and the way we play. But come on, nearly 2 seasons knowing we have strikers not fit, not likely to play half a season and from January via a panic last minute signing of an unfit striker through to the Wilson debacle (who I incidentally like) and on to Lowe and now Uche - not good enough. Prices are extortionate (allegedly), no cash available (allegedly) and strikers at a premium but come on the DOF and crew should have done better in that department. Not rocket science.

You don't need to add "allegedly" to your comment  about strikers - we have seen reports on how much they cost, and their wages! Having to replace 2 GKs and upgrade defence and MF clearly used up most of the budget? Taking a chance on Wilson / Loft and Uche could have worked / failed or could still work? Uche will be a good signing- watch some videos of him playing...and scoring good goals...in the Championship! Rumours we were after Ryan Loft before we actually signed him - I don't recall many protests against this? DF and the rest of recruitment tried to bring in more goals with Alfie /. Josh Thomas / Ollie / Chizzy, and pushing Ben Garrity back into the position from which he did so well in our promotion season; and we added a couple of players we were told were dead-ball specialists. So, ues - recruitment was aimed at spreading goals around, rather than commit to an expensive striker. Maybe - if we do ok against 'Boro, and get through to the 3rd round FA Cup, and get a glamour tie, there will be cash to strengthen in January? But - everyone wants a 20-goals a season player, at the right price for their budget...including Prem sides!!!

Tony, I am happy that you have a different opinion to me. Personal attacks, not so much. Attack the post not the poster I believe is the saying.

I've not said anything that's not fact, or my personal opinion on a fact. I'd appreciate it if you didn't misconstrue what I wrote as 'made up'.

As per your comments on my opinion as to how the sacking was handled, my feelings remain. I'm not debating if it was the wrong decision, I don't think it was but perhaps it was the only decision. I didn't like the way the club handled things post sacking and up the appointment of the new manager. I think mistakes were made (we all make them) and they will come back to haunt us very soon. Hopefully, we can turn the corner and stay up - I think avoiding a relegation battle would be a successful season.

    UTV

My response was to mr hobblesworth calling me weird and mental - not to you!

If I am attacked personally, I will always retaliate in kind...posters like Brian Johnson immediately spring to mind!

I don't think the club had any option in the way DC was sacked or the handling of this, bearing in mind they tried to not elaborate overmuch on what had actually happened. As I've posted, recently, if you don't allow upward promotions in a business, you give your employees nothing to strive towards! I'm ok with what we did; how we did it and the management team we have now. Time will tell - but with more than half a season to go, and players still to come back to fitness, we have to go to, at least, the January window to consider making any hasty choices?

    Why is it ludicrous?

It's ludicrous because - as we have seen so often in the past - there's no such thing as a certainty, with us! Just because we seemed to have the easiest path to the Q/F - those games still have to be won (...and won in good style)! How many times have we had "easy" Cup ties and let ourselves down - often, embarrassingly? How many times have we made Giantkillers out of non-League outfits?

i'm not as simple as you...the off-field stuff was about DC and his family's tragedy!

I'm all for balance. We all have views but it's as though Crosby is somehow excused/exempt from this current malaise with some posters...

...We could not have handpicked a better route to the last 8 in the cup. Whilst it's a fantastic achievement and opportunity the highest placed team we've beaten is Fleetwood. This run has papered over widening cracks within the starting X1...

Clearly, some posters are prepared to give our injury list as a possible excuse for the downturn in results?

As for that ludicrous second statement - how many times, in the past, have Vale had the chance to progress but failed - and, often, by an embarrassing defeat? Having the better route to the last 8 is one thing...actually accomplishing it is quite another!
