I'm assuming Uche's wages and fee would have gone towards whoever it is that we couldn't persuade to sign yesterday

Of course, but any news on why yesterdays move fell through? Was it a knock on at the loan club? Who was it?

  2. Terrible night, stayed up until 1am hoping something would come out but nothing.
Pretty much leaves us hoping James Wilson can play 2 games a week for the next few months or we are in deep deep trouble. Think we will struggle to stay up now, the fact we've not even got a young loanee striker let alone a decent experienced one is absolutely nuts, didnt Flickers say at the fans forum one would come through the door?
Let's hope we have not done a last minute striker mess like Bristol Rovers.

No, but you'd think that a huge club like Liverpool would have a forensic knowledge of one of their promising young player's condition. They would know if it was suitable for him to go out and play, and know if he wasn't in any condition to go out on loan.

With 15 players or more out on loan I would expect them to be monitored weekly by the appropriate Liverpool departments, after all some are worth many Millions.

Burke would be an odd one, on loan I assume from my second team SV Werder Bremen but been at Birmingham City this season.

Scored the winner in a mental game for Bremen where they came from 2-0 down with a couple of minutes to go to beat Dortmund 2-3 in their own backyard and never really got a look in again.

Went to school in the town I am from in Leicestershire and my sister knows him so will have to do some digging on that one.

Baggies paid £15M for him apparently

Have never known a Vale signing get given a stage by stage report on it like this. What it does show is how much work actually goes into getting one over the line even after the point of reaching agreement I guess.

Lets hope he lives up to the fanfare.

  6. Not counting Lowe and Walters in midfield (as personally I don't fancy them) is Ojo (when fit), Sang, Chissy, Weir and Gore (if he signs) enough in midfield?
We've lost: Blaster, Devine, Conlon and Garrity (injury).
And is the balance right in midfield? Not sure what type of midfielder Gore is?
    Ask at the forum.

Social media and even the press/digital companies are full of it.

We all like a good rumour, but this is like Brazier to Barcelona. Perhaps Gore is too good for Dortmund.

Plate of Sauerkraut or Oatcakes? No contest.

  8. Inventory of window to date. Posed some challenges by the best loanees going back. Look to have dealt with that with the quality of the signings on loan to replace. Particularly pleased we signed a likely very capable and big centre half. Not lost any of our own best players so far despite concerns. Pushing through the youth strategy by giving out first team contracts to far more players than in many a year - maybe ever. At the moment I think we have enough to stay clear of relegation. Need to win the games in hand though.
Concerns. Last minute raid of our best players. Unable to respond before the shutters come down. If we do respond we sign another crocked hopeful not ready to play for weeks / months.
With last-minute moves, I just hope we have an open relationship with our key players and have covered likely moves, but if a release clause is triggered, nothing we can do if terms beyond us.
