Our promotion happened a year too soon, didnt allow us to consolidate properly and it has continued to hamper us into this season. If we go down which is looking likely I think we will bounce back quickly and then have a better chance at consolidation in League 1. I do however think that the rebuilding process cannot be allowed to be run by David Flitcroft and in all honesty, i dont think should be done by a director of football at all. Darren Moore has a better CV and better contacts than Flitcroft for a start so Flitcroft's position is not only untenable but also completely redundant. What i would like to see in place is a return to the chief scout role, someone who can oversea the scouting network and report directly to Darren Moore.
We have a Recruitment Manager in charge of the Scouts and Player Knowledge

Never give up, Bournemouth no home wins this year, 3-0 down at HT, win 4-3.

Uche to earn his dosh?I was reflecting on last season and how in our run in we basically stayed up as Bristol rovers were on the beach. Anyway here is my view of the motivations of teams in our fixtures across the run in:
- Oxford (H) - Play off chasers on a bad run
- Burton (A) - Relegation 6 pointer
- Bristol Rovers (H) - Mid table nothingness, but too soon to be on holiday
- Northampton (A) -See above
- Wigan (A) - See above
- Peterborough (A) - Outside chance of automatics
- Exeter (H) - On the beach or relegation 6 pointer
- Wycombe (H) - On the beach
- Bolton (A) - Automatics / Champions
- Cambridge (H) - relegation 6 pointer
Apart from the Bolton game I think our last 4 fixtures are pretty great. If we can get a few wins in the next few games it puts us in touch (potentially)

I also know the going 'price' for a league one standard striker and a league one standard manager, with the 'value' of both being the increased chance of remaining in this league. I believe the drop off in EFL consolidation payments is around 700k from league one to league two. Gotta sell a lot of pizza in the fanzone to fill that hole. It's a shame the club have prioritized investing in infrastructure with an incredibly low ROI versus making the right call on the pitch, where the real money is to be made and lost.
Infrastructure has a much longer life than a footballers contract, so the ROI is understandably low, apart from the fact that some is legally required.

Robbie's as an empty room was bringing in no revenue. As a hospitality area, it can bring in revenue throughout the year independently of football matches, possibly at the expense of other business locations.Perhaps a little dim, but also leveraging my first class degree in economics to question your claims.
Your theory only works if the demand previously outstripped supply. Are you really implying that previously the club were turning away corporate business over the summer months because we didn't have enough function suites? Are you also saying that on multiple occasions this summer we'll have a packed Robbie's on the same day as packed function suite? I struggle to believe that.
Totally get that it brings in an extra £90k/season through extra corporate bums on seats (although a % of that will have been coming into the club as these fans sat in other stands previously) but to suggest that Robbie's will be a major driver of revenue (doubling, in fact) over the summer is far-fetched.

Bolton settled the game with the 2nd and 3rd goals, a goalkeeper/defender error the other a wicked deflection. The other 3 were classic defence splitting moves likely to happen in our penultimate game, so I would not expect points there. How will Oxford react? Still have hope of the POs, likely to be a demanding game.

Moore's priority with our backs to the wall is to identify the players worth keeping and how they can be used. I assume he has already identified the obvious shortages and made them known. Should he manage to retain L1 status, the task becomes bigger as L1 is likely to be a stronger league next season. At the same time, he will prove his usefulness to the club. The immediate task is Oxford on Saturday.I mean all we can ask for is effort like last night i still anticipate we are going down and flitcroft needs to go. But atleast there was a bit of grit and fight in them last night. My tuesday night wasnt ruined for once which is nice.

I was thinking that, a last game decider at VP after a last-minute win at Bolton. Pack the Park.Question: is it worth a tenner on Vale V Cambridge, last game of the season, Vale win and we stay up...??
Just a question.
Well done tonight Vale. Well battled and a good point at a tough place to go and play.
Seemed like they all gave atonight.

Explain how the Robbie Suite will be bringing in 'twice as much' revenue over the summer months? (and will it start to recoup any of the huge loss the club took on the actual Robbie gig...?)
The Robbie Suite and lots of the Hospitality areas are used for revenue earning purposes throughout the year.

Did he not leave Wednesday because he could not strengthen them on promotion? Seems he was right? Most clubs have DoF or Sporting Directors nowadays , even Barrow. It is the recruitment process or system that counts, limited by the budget. Without input into the system squads become unsuited.Moore has always worked under a DOF model hasn’t he? He has no record of calling the shots on recruitment.

True, we will still be crap, but let’s not forget that we should now be in the process of at least drawing up a list of targets for next season, made all the more difficult by the fact we don’t know what league we’ll be playing in, although we can all probably guess the answer to that. As it stands our DoF will be overseeing this process, which doesn’t give me any confidence.
I assume the Recruitment Manager does all the leg work at this stage, whether there is much difference in top end L2 Promotion hopeful budgets and ours as a L1 hopeful will depend on what the Owners have indicated.
-
The manager has been changed, until the chance of a miracle is over. we are still a L1 club. Until the season is over, the players are not likely to be changed. The recruitment system requires review by the owners, hopefully in progress.Something has to change the situation...

I think the majority of fans want to know what we discussed regarding DF. I'm sure that Carol won't have said he's getting sacked in the morning so don't worry, but was there any mention of accountability if we were to be relegated? Are they reviewing his work in the transfer windows in the last few months? Is there an understanding that some fans are prepared to give up their season tickets unless this person is removed from the club, and if so, are the club prepared to back DF and lose these fans in the process?
Fans are looking for transparency and the statement released offers none of it.
I would be very surprised if the recruitment process over the last 2 seasons is not reviewed, What changes will be made is a matter for conjecture, especially as we have a new manager in place. ST sales determine the player budget related to Fair Play rules. Up to the owners to decide based on their findings and the future situation, but some details will always remain confidential.

The main problem is player recruitment. The Owners have to review the situation once the season is decided. They decide how much they can allocate to the player budget, how to improve the current system, change of current staff and integration of new First team staff. Some of this maybe going on at present .

Bloody hell, it’s like being in Kindergarten.
“It wasn't organised by the club nor were the participants selected by the club”
Patrick Shanahan was a participant.
Nor were the participants selected by the club.
Deduction - the club didn’t select Patrick Shanahan.
It’s been pointed out Patrick Shanahan was selected by the club.
That is how I misinterpreted it.
Got it?
I didnt say the club selected Patrick(owner`s son)

How is the misrepresentation? The supporters club requests a meeting with the owner. Both parties bring their own participants.Fair enough but “It wasn't organised by the club nor were the participants selected by the club” lends itself to misinterpretation.

Who said that Patrick Shanahan's presence was requested. In a meeting with the owner, it is up to the owner to decide who they wish to assist. So the supporters group insisted that Patrick Shanahan was present but declined to invite the man responsible for everything that touches the football and is the target for 95% of fan’s derision??? Sorry Rob but I’m not buying that.

The time to establish your working arrangements is when you sign your contract, Moore is familiar with establishing transfer power. I think he will get his way or someone will go.Is it just me or has the dynamic changed behind the scenes?
"Darren Moore and his team will work closely with David Flitcroft". Not the other way round. Do I detect a behind the scenes coup?

The Gunners didn't score when Albaster was on, he managed an assist, but the striker was lacking. No change. He'll be well used to the likes of that

Yes, both Vale and the Pilgrims relegated that season. It was Plymouth Argyle.
17 league games plus 1 cup game (away at Sunderland who went on to reach the final that year).
