You can't compare the 2 clubs in any way. Man U are sold out every single game with a season ticket waiting list of years (I know somebody who has been on the waiting list for 10 years plus). Man U's ticket revenue is guaranteed every match, every season. As a PVFC fan for over 40 years I want to see a successful side making progress moving up the table. What I don't want is Championship Ready facilities with a team playing in L2.
Why are Man U considering spending £500M, Spurs spent £1000M on their grounds then? You have to move with the times. I am well aware our scale is different, we had to move from Hanley as the lease ran out.

I hear this a lot and I have been guilty of running with it myself as if it were fact but on reflection do we actually know that df decided our style of play, formation, signings etc if so how do we know that? Are we simply surmising it because Carlol described his role as everything to do with the football side or was there a whistle blower I'm not aware of. For instance how do we know that he didn't simply meet with the manager and they agreed a strategy between them. I'm only asking because every time I saw AC interviewed he was passionate in his defence of the style of play and told us we needed to be patient with it because they were trying to change the way we play and it was non negotiable. That doesn't sound to me like something he had imposed on him it sounds more like something he was happy to take ownership of.
I thought the Club/DoF decided the style of play, improvement to the academy etc, and consequently choose managers/coaches familiar and passionate about the chosen style of play . AC with his Championship/Prem coaching experience would fit the task and was brought in to support DC, whose task was promotion after steadying the ship. The New Manager thread covers Peoples` preferences for the next episode at the Vale.

Reading a number of the posts it seems clear that there is a logical, fundamental message to the owners.
1. Use the funds to get the best squad that delivers results in the best possible way. This is called success on the pitch delivering progress, excitement, enjoyment, motivation and increased revenue through the gates.
2. Use excess funds to improve the infrastructure. (Score board, toilets, pitch, offices, training ground) etc.
The two are very clearly linked together. Get No 1 right and revenue increases through success that enables the funds for No 2. Get No 1 wrong whilst focussing on No 2 then you have what we have today.
Surely every football club owner understands this connection ?
Man Utd don't, their stadium requires replacement or re-building as it has been neglected for 20 years. All sides of the business have to be properly managed and kept in balance. Infrastructure brings in income as well as being within stadium regulations.

As I remember it, he turned up after the interviews had finished. We pulled Micky Adams from nowhere. I am hoping for the same. Anything less and we are.

Will we have a manager announced by Friday night?

The success of a football club is ultimately determined by what happens on the pitch. Everything else, not matter how admiral it is is secondary.
But success depends how the club is funded and run. Gate money and FA funding only takes you so far. It is the other money that makes the difference and how wisely it is spent. Player sales can make a big difference in L1 either from the a First team or an Academy. Currently it appears we do not have sufficient funds for adequate first team players.

I am fairly sure that Barry Fry has stepped in from time to time at Posh. The point is that although a DoF, he has managed football teams in the past and in an emergency would be expected to steady the ship. Tin hat in place. Is it commonplace for Directors at football clubs to become the manager?
It might be, but I can't think of one other than when Micky Adams became a fake director that time.

Lions led by Donkeys springs to mind. Why is it always the one person who has actually done his job virtually every week who comes out and addresses things? Meanwhile none of the clubs hierarchy have said a peep.

Wasn't he well thought of at Mansfield? Except for the goal at Wembley.Well he was another of our players who the supporters griefed endlessly.
Mal has always been a good player. He was never utilised correctly.
I have nothing but respect for him, but it's hardly surprising he left at the first available opportunity imo

Does seem to point to that. Notice on that statement there’s no words from Flitcroft or Carol for that matter thanking him for his time here like he’s done when players have left. Maybe reading too much into it but guess one scenario is Croz just reached breaking point after training with what he’s had to work with and said a few home truths to his superiors. Timing of it all is curious.
Possible, no doubt it will leak out in time.

Garrity scored, which helped. We provided Fleetwood with their first win in 3 months. We've lost to the three bottom teams in the league. Our generosity knows no bounds. Ah well I suppose we managed to beat the 4th bottom team 1-0. I guess someone at the club must have a beef with them.

How is not signing a striker spending wisely? It’s akin to driving around in your car with a flat tyre.
Whether the budget is a £ or £M it can be wasted or of a benefit. Signing a striker should of been of benefit.

I understand that but as a football club our first priority should be to have some footballers capable of achieving some football. After taxes and H&S considerations of course. 🙂
Spending wisely has nothing to do with budgets

Money is money whatever you spend it on or where it comes from. Budgets are an invention of accountants to justify their own existence. Slightly simplified and cynical but you can only spend each pound once.
Not all pounds can be spent on the playing budget which is subject to Fair Play Rules. Newcastle have access to unlimited money but they cant spend it all on players.

Infrastructure not playing budget, different rules. Scoreboard presumably brings in advertising revenue, which can be used in the playing budget.I agree mate, not arguing, but havent we got it on interest free loan - agreed, this will be paid back over a period, but seems like Donno is a reasonable bloke re his investments, so cant imagine he wants it all back pronto.

Likely to go to foreign shores, didn't Uche come from Turkey? It’s bonkers that I’d take a 38 year old, overweight, half cut, sniffed up to his eye balls Tom Pope right now over our current strike force
