wimbledon thursday

Surprised so many are complaining about the ref. He could've given a 2nd pen for Duffy's challenge before Pope's goal and some would've given Lofty a 2nd yellow for that stupid push, which was probably why Micky subbed him about a min after. Wimbledon fans have more to moan about him than we do.

Yup, I think the second one was more of a peno than the first and even without my Stokie hat on I would have sent Loft off, it's a yellow all day long.

Poor performance from You lot as I'm sure has been said. The left back impressed me with how well he got forward and Loft despite being lucky not to be sent off played well too.

Hughes was pants and looked like he hadn't played in months and missed some chances You'd expect him to bury.

And is Neal known for buckling under pressure? Every time the ball rolled back to him Wimbledon had 2 players sprinting at him. I don't know if that's how they play or they just targeted him.

i think after a slow start and going behind we did ok. getting a point when not at our best isnt that the sign of a good team?

jmw scared them to death i thought. the centre backs did a number on hughes and pope so they struggled. i think everyone forgets hughes hasnt played much recently even for county so will lack shsrpness but i bet no one is more peed off about his performance than him. and ill have money on a goal from him next game.

ref was ok. i think all that wrestling crap should be a pen or fk it needs to be stopped.

on a final point what was with BWs eyes ehen he came on. he looked stoned.

I thought the ref got both pen decisions right IMO

Chilvers lost his man and so pulled him down - frustrating it was given cos so many others get away with it, but still the correct decision and more should be given for it

Duffy was never a pen, he just stood his ground and their player was all over him too.

Don't think loft should've got a yellow for that 'push' either. Whilst it was silly of him to put his hand on his back, the player just waited to feel a tiny bit of contact and throw himself to the ground.

Thought the ref had a good game to be honest.

Wasn't a vintage performance, but was always gonna be tricky to break them down on that small pitch, especially after they'd got an early lead. But a point away from home against a side in form is never a bad result. Even if they are towards the bottom of the league.

Thought Calvin Andrew actually looked ok when he came on to be fair, and Hughes had a bit of a stinker. Obvs I'd still start Hughes next game but it's nice to have plenty of attacking options for a change

Makes sense.

Quite an enjoyable game as it goes. The only negative with Vale's play I thought was You tried to hoof it a bit too much and it didn't work. You played best when the midfield could spread it wide and gave it Myrie-Williams who had his full back in his pocket in the second half.

And I know, a Stoke fan saying You hoof it too much, pot and kettle and all that but it's true!

****'s sake - why can't people understand that sometimes, other teams actually play well against us - it doesn't mean that we are ****! first half wimbledon worked their nuts off, pressed us all over and scored a very well worked goal. just because they are second bottom doesn't mean they haven't got a good half of football in them. i though the penalty could have gone either way - chilvers has his shirt but their lad yanks chilvers back in the first place. i don't think we were brilliant by any means but surely tonight shows that we have enough pure quality to get something from these sticky situations. only worry for me was hughes who looked a million miles away from what we were hoping for - plenty of time for him to get fitter and sharper though. onwards and upwards!

agreed but passing on the ground on thst pitch looked like a mare. small pitch for wingers too although jmw when he runs at defenders has them all over the place. needs get in the area more like tonight. but also needs to remember to pass at end of his runs.

When You did it though You looked a decent side even on that pitch. When You hoofed it, it was meat and drink for the centre halves and Pope won naff all. It just wasn't working whereas getting it on the deck and out wide did, it's just that Hughes managed to miss what chances were created.

Terrible first half, I think we made them look better than they were though. Great goal before half time out of nothing, lucky to go in at 2-1 down. Thought the ref and liner on our side were very good to us, a few sift fouls and a couple of questionable offsides. Shame the ref then ignored all the fouls on Pope/time wasting. Thought we looked far fitter than them in the second half and could maybe have nicked it, although they didn't deserve to lose. They always looked dangerous when they went forwards. Pope's goal was a masterpiece, and better than our first I thought. How many prem strikers would have chased the ball down, won it like that and had the composure and balance to find the net from there??

Neal - 4

Duffy - 6

Chilvers - 5

Purse - 7

New boy - 7

Vincent - 1

JMW - 8

Burge - 10

Loft - 8 (poor first half though)

Pope - 8

Hughes - 4

My toes are freezing. I don't like Wimbledon train station. Too many people. And the skittle in the vending machine were too cold.

Didn you say pretty much word for word the same about Pope? With a Micky Adams pre-season in him he could be a totally different player.

I admit i was no fan of Pope but Calvin Andrew isnt even anywhere near a Tom Pope of 2 years ago.

Mark him down with Kevin Gall, Stefan Moore and Kyle Perry.
