I'm told that Gareth has just been awarded a First Class Honours degree in Sports Science.

Well done

I also know that he's done a mountain of work to help the players through this latest contract saga.

Double well done

with the title of the thread i thought must have give his notice in;)

I congratulate Gareth. I am sure he worked hard and deserves the degree.

However, sports science in universities makes my blood boil for giving away too easily first class honour degrees relative to other courses.

I disagree!!! I worked harder than most on mine!

Everyone has this idea that uni's give away good degrees for little effort. They don't. Simply because when someone walks into a job using their first class degree as a way in, and are then found out to actually know **** all, it damages the reputation of the uni.

You should probably consider as well the passion of the students for their subject. From my own experience, those who do broad subjects (biology, business studies, media, etc) are often not as passionate about it as those who specialise (sports science, ecology, computer game design, etc). Therefore, the specialist subjects tend to do a little better than the broader ones as they simply want it more or are more interested.

Feel we are going slightly off topic though.

Well done Gareth. Getting a first class degree whilst working isn't easy to do.

Just wondering, how has he just been awarded it? Most uni results came out in early July.
