Action against Steward

old sage

Recommended Posts

If I can get enough evidence against that big goon of a steward who nearly started a riot by jumping on a drunken Vale fan who was about a quarter of his size. The guy was so drunk he just needed either putting back in the crowd of putting out of the ground.

What upset me the most was after when he went into their supporters and was shaking hands and doing 'high fives' the moron.

If you have filmed it or have some evidence I will write and demand he gets the sack.

These are the same stewards who when they scored smiled and laughed also patting him on the back with the Chesterfield fan who climbed over the fence.

Sage, so what? The vale fan shouldn't have walked onto the pitch anyway and being drunk and incapable isn't an excuse. People like that should not be let into the ground fullstop. I had the misfortune to have to stand next to a similar fan in the queue for the bog at halftime as he vomited where he stood, there is no excuse and no need for people to get so leathered before going to watch a game of football. It is embarassing to be a Vale fan when this type of fan decides to attend away games.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but should the stewards not be seen to be impartial?.

The man nearly started a riot and had it been in a more central position then I am sure that it would have done. To me though the fact that he went into the home supporters shaking hands for being 'Mr Tough' really upset a lot of people. One lady asked for his name after the match which he refused. This brings me to another point shouldn't stewards wear identification?.

Ive got a bee in my bonnet because my youngest son stumbled as he was going to the toilets at Shrewsbury and one of their stewards grabbed him by the throat but he bit off more than he could chew because my lad smacked him and he ran off but it could have got nasty because the four of us and a couple of more Vale fans ended up jostling with an army of stewards. Fortunately one steward later said it was their fault but that was small comfort.

He should have been thrown out long before he got to the pitch. I was unfortunate enough to sit next to him in the second half and all he did was shout threats at one of their supporters who celebrated when they scored their first.

Don't think he watched any of the match all game and was purely there to cause trouble imo

Im not trying to defend him in the slightest I dont even know the bloke but It was the stewards ridiculous actions that worried me.In volatile conditions it only takes something like this to spark off a major incident. Obviously the drunk shouldn't have been allowed into the ground.

To be honest, it says more about the moronic nature of our fans than the actions of the steward. Yes the steward was a little bit on the heavy handed side, but essentially a guy ran onto the pitch towards the home fans, the steward took him down and escorted him out of the ground.

If this causes some of our fans to charge down to the front and start swearing at everyone in sight and chanting "we'll see you outside" and "on the pitch, on the pitch, on the pitch" to the Chesterfield fans, it is because they're knuckle-dragging idiots. However "highly strung" or tense things were, anyone who reacted that way to a steward intercepting a pitch invader is a moron, whichever way you want to dress it up.
