Taken as 2 points in isolation, that is fair enough. Although it is very small isolation, given the turnover of players over Smurthwaite's tenure, many of whom he appeared to have links with, either directly or indirectly.

 

I look forward to Port Vale Football Club receiving the money from a sell on for Hugill.

 

I love the irony ! However it’s unlikely Vale or indeed Smurfthwaite’s back pocket will receive any money in January as the once Proud Preston are unlikely to sell. If they wanted to cash in on their prize asset they would have done so in the last transfer window.

6 months closer to the end of his contract and they know he wants to leave. I’m sure at least one team will take a punt.

I think they will sell in January, otherwise he could go for nothing at the end of the season.
