Not single-handedly, but they've played a major part in cheaper purchases. If it wasn't them, it would have been someone else.

but as already seen in this thread people can get anything they want for FREE in a matter of minutes/seconds

 

music had to become cheaper. £15 for an album in HMV and the like is a joke.

 

not to mention that i can't even find the music i want to buy in record stores anymore anyway. i need to buy it online directly from bands generally

Me neither! I like to have a physical copy with a sleeve n notes etc, but keeping in with new bands is hard work. If I can go direct to the artist it's so much better.

I don't pay for any of my music. I will freely admit it. The only music I will pay for is if I go to see a band I like enough. Then I'll buy all their merch/cds/etc. Happy to support somebody If I thought it was deserved, but anything like most of the music in the charts would never get a penny off me.
