Boxing Day matchday programmes

Just an idea of mine (I have about 30 a day).

Would it be possible to get the Sheffield United programmes in the club shop asap as "stocking fillers" or even at a reduced cost to get people in the shop in the first place?

I never buy them, but I think they are usually made as up-to-date as possible.....so it may mean delaying the relevant parts (RP's words etc) until after the Crawley game. So in theory they could be in the shop by the Monday or Tuesday in time for the last few days of Christmas shopping.

If they were to be offered with every purchase of merchandise or tickets, that seems like a decent bit of "up-selling" to me.

I'll spare you the other 29 ideas!!

That's a great idea, I'd certainly like one in advance.

I do see aa possible problem with giving them way with a purchase though, as that would mean some people who would buy them normally will now not, so you might make £2 profit on the purchase but lose £3 income on the programme.

Possibly get the players to sign 10 small fairly cheaply produced pics each and make a lucky dip out of them, giving each customer chance to pick one. 30 players - first 300 customers from, say, 15th December, cost would be virtually nothing except the players time to sign them.

I'd guess Smurf will be pleased to see good positive ideas on here too and hopefully might explore your progrmmme one with his printers/distributors.

The deadlines over Christmas are awkward. Dave has asked for all contributions for the Sheffield prog to be in by 15 December and Gillingham by the 16th. The proof reading for both programmes will be on 18th December and they will then go to the printers. I don't know what holidays the printers have but I suspect the earliest we will get both will be either the Saturday of the Crawley game or the following Monday. That's why stuff in the Festive period progs is often a bit out of date.

If your idea was adopted, you would have to make a guess as to how many you think we would sell in advance and increase the print run accordingly. We would also have to make sure that enough programmes were held back to cover the on the day demand, especially from what I hope will be a very decent following from the Blunts.

Good idea though. Email Norman.
