Artificial Pitches Making a Return?

In the first cycle of these pitches I was able to play a couple of games on Preston's Deepdale pitch. They were poor though. I used to play regularly on Pensby School's artificial pitch, also used by Tranmere in bad weather. That is very good and not even the latest of these pitches which may be even better. For some clubs who can hire the pitch out, have a small accessible community stadium etc, these can be a financial lifeline, but I can't see it as viable at Vale Park where pitches more easily accessible are available at probably much lower cost behind the ground. I don't see a rush to take these up in the professional leagues and indeed there was no rush to do so last time.

Until an artificial pitch can be developed that exactly mimics grass then I wouldn't be in favor of using them for competitive games. On those currently available the ball bounces higher and runs faster than on grass, injuries from dislocated shoulders, due to the lack of forgiveness of the surface, to broken legs when studs get caught in the webbing of the under surface are more prevalent and horrible "skin burns" from players falling are very common.
