As far as I know, there are 300 travel-related jobs going and the 300 employees have had to apply for the 80 *new* jobs.

**** Sentinel reporting. Should have reported losing 240 jobs.

I would enjoy speculating over the future of the Sentinel mesen more. What's the point? Metro and Advertiser can do the poop they manage now. The intelligensia can find what's on in the cultural 1/4 on the net. They must be pooing it right now. I can't see how they can carry on unless they bring something new and vibrant to the populace. Paper media is over.

Lost me there. Is that a paper? I last read one in the 80's and that was some one elses Sun to look at inflated breasts. Paper media is now free to grab and paid for by ads. We make fire lighter of it or recycle. Journos must a noticed this?

It is the regional paper for the west midlands county, it comes up as far as stafford and stone so far.

Most probably and expanding from stone/stafford is that further north. If the sentinel goes bump then someone will spy it.

 

I am truly amazed the Sentinel still exists. I used work at Infinis with an ex Sentinal bloke and the stories of mismanagement and corruption were eye opening. This area is so conservative that a GOOD mate of mine (who is older, fair doos) has an internet address but won't use it. IN other areas he is very progressve, but media wise. He aint. ITphobe.

The potteries/north staffs as a whole is backwards thinking and has a rare forward thinking drive, this is why we have the issues with the current board, as this is ' Little old vale why would this and that happen to us'.

 

The Sentinel, it is a pretty funny issue. I also find I know news and then the next day or two it is in the paper.

I will only sight one example. Gillian Hargreaves was at school with my sister's year at Ellison St. She loved the Vale, and her roots, but left this area as soon as she could. Most of the progressive youth I met would never come back here. Manc, London or overseas. Shame, cos I LOVE it here. Why did they all bugger off?
