Johnny-come-latelies in the EPL

Even here in NZ Stoke are not seen as a big club!!

 

Wellington Phoenix are looking to bring over a EPL club later in the year and looking at West Ham with the NZ links to Winston Reid. However when looking at bringing another club the following quote is made

 

"When we looked at the options, the top-four are prohibitive due to cost, and then there's the next tier of quality, famous English clubs. West Ham's one of those. You discount the Johnny-come-latelies in the EPL; Southampton, Norwich, Stoke, are probably not going to draw crowds in New Zealand. But that group in the middle we think are financially an option for us, and would draw a big enough crowd to be interesting."

My heart sinks when I see or hear anybody referring to it as the "EPL".

 

Not least because there's hardly anything English about it any more !

When was the last time Stoke had a Kiwi International in the team? Even Vale have had 2 players (even if one was not particularly good)

 

At least with West Ham coming you will get a lot of the London Expats going to the game!! Not many Stoke Expats here

I don't know about 'Johnny-come-latelies' but Mr Venger must be wondering what he has to do to win in the Potteries - what is it now: in the last 8 games he's only won once in Stoke
