NSSCCL meeting at the Community Stadium

I attended a North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League meeting this evening which was held at the Stadium former known as the Community Stadium but now named after a building society that doesn't exist.

Ostensibly this started with a sales pitch for SCFC Group Tickets. However, Keith Tunnicliffe the League Manager introduced the item by saying that NSSCCL had visited Vale and the treatment received between the two clubs was like chalk and cheese. The implication being that the Vale hadn't used the opportunity to best advantage, not dealt with the NSSCCL in a professional manner. When there are 48 clubs each putting 22 players out and probably with a membership in the order of a 100 minimum a piece there's an opportunity to sell product to an audience of 4800 minimum.

As well as the Group Ticket initiative, Stoke also made the offer of cheap tickets (£10/£5) for the Swansea game on 12 Feb.

Why didn't Vale use this as an opportunity to shift some of our tickets, particularly with a series of midweek home fixtures coming up in the next couple of months?

Sounds like Mr Tunnicliffe is not a Vale fan then? Why else would he stand up and denigrate another club like you suggest?

Perhaps because they had not been treated well by the Vale? Mr Tunnicliffe is a fair minded bloke who has worked at the Vale and wouldn`t knock them without reason.

Keith isn't a Vale fan - but I think he was trying to demonstrate that he had contacted both clubs. I don't think he was denigrating Vale, purely explaining that Vale's commercial department had been offered an opportunity.

I think we know our commercial department and shop staff aren't what they should be as yet. Hopefully Smurthwaite's focus is now firmly fixed on both matters.

I've heard some people on OVF make complimentary remarks about Chris Shaw.

I hear what you all say about Mr Tunnicliffe. I was asking just the question.

Fact is, the results from our commercial activities are above budget, aren't they? We can't be doing everything wrong.

There a number of adjectives I could use to describe Mr Tunnicliffe however I feel it wouldn't go down well with the moderators of this site, and therefore shall keep them to myself...

Dont even think this Mr T even approached the Vale. Cant believe that anyone adressing an agm or whatever, would begin by telling everyone how he was treated by another club in obtaining a venue for their meeting. I also find it hard to beleive that he would approach Port Vale , before Sjoke as their prefered venue, especially when the subject of tickets for games was on the agenda, ie premier league before lge 1. Just another lardie in front of an audiance bigging up his club.
