We need to average 5917 for the remaining 14 League games to attain the Season average of 6500 which, we were told, was the break-even figure.

 

I'm not sure that's how Papa sees it - correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Smurf has intimated that the 6500 is the number for home fans..

Why should that make a difference to the budget? The same amount of money comes in whether it is from home or away fans. It's a cop out if that is what he meant IMO.

 

I remember him saying on Radio Stoke that we weren't hitting our attendance targets, which I found confusing as we were at about 7900 at that point. This was when relationships were a bit rocky though so he may have got the numbers wrong by mistake :-)

 

I hope a few stats from last year regarding our away support transfer to home stats especially now the boys are playing so well - SVA

 

- The biggest average away following at games was for Leeds United (2,678), followed by Sheffield Wednesday (2,500) and Nottingham Forest (2,054). Sheffield United (1,648) had the highest average following in League 1 and Port Vale (891) in League 2

 

- Bradford City (+79%) saw the biggest increase in travelling fans, followed by Rotherham United (+63%), AFC Bournemouth (+61%) and Port Vale (+60%)

 

- Port Vale had the biggest away following as a proportion of fans that attend home games (15.1%), just ahead of York City (14.8%) and Rochdale (14.7%). The highest in the Championship was Peterborough United (12.9%) and in League 1 it was Walsall (12.3%)
