Can't see anything on twitter or Sheff utd forums.
It’s a report from the Sheffield Star. Better hope Alfie Devine doesn’t get recalled otherwise will be starting from scratch in midfield almost.
Just a moment...

Can't see Smudger going. I'd be happy if Uche and/or Loft went. Think Loft is getting better but still not the right bloke for me. I'd also love to see Massey moved on too.
I’m presuming with Loft he might have made an appearance for Rovers at some point probably in the pizza trophy so if that’s the case we are probably stuck with him.

Rumour I heard today is Conlon is going to 'Nam and Cass is off to Harrogate
I think the Conlon one seems more than plausible. It’s clear he has no future here if can’t even make the matchday squad and DC loves him. Him and Pett can team up in the middle there again. Cass I can see a drop to L2 maybe doing him some good.

Surely Dan Jones is close to getting back to fitness soon? Seems he’s been out for about 90% of the season (that’s just a figure plucked off the top of my head and not saying it’s in any way accurate). Needs to get back out there soon and justify that new contract which I’ll be honest was sceptical of giving to him when he did for all the talk about Willo’s availability.
-
To me the only real justification for keeping him is the way he promotes younger talent. I will defend him to the hilt on that and I’m of the opinion that is what has saved him from being dismissed.
With that said I’m of the opinion tactically in terms of preparation and in game he is desperately found wanting and is pretty much a one trick pony. It also shows no sign of improving or lessons being learned, the same failings occur week after week. I don’t think he’ll go anywhere any time soon and I’m fully expecting to turn up at VP on Friday and he’ll go with the same starting eleven again.

I’m guessing we’re not going to be seeing Josh Thomas back before the new year and quite possibly in a Vale shirt again.
I’d get as many of the academy lads involved as possible mixed in with Willo and Devine etc. The likes of Loft can sit it out with Conlon and Cass. Will get the same production out of them. To be perfectly honest have seen enough this season to tell me the likes DiPepa, Lomax, Walters and Shorrock are probably already better footballers than certain more established professionals so go with them.

I get the feeling they’ll try and use the improved second half as a defence but not for me. It was done as a contest at half time and Barnsley eased off. Sorry but for me that has to it for Crosby though suspect it won’t be.

Well done young Jack. Deserves that goal.

Lovely first touch by Shorrock there and beautiful ball across. Someone should show a few of our more senior players how that works…

Shorrock and Lomax are both legitimately better players than Massey already.

Good finish from Chis, although it looks like they’ve knocked off for the day.
Yeah I don’t want to hear after the game how he is pleased with the second half response. Barnsley clearly just taken their foot off the gas to see it through.

Nice finish from Chizzy but this doesn’t mask anything. Horse has long since bolted.

Was that Jason Lowe who nearly had Kane in for the fourth then?? Closest any of our players will get to any goal involvements today I guess.
-
The only player who looks like he gives a crap is Devine and he isn’t even our player. The game itself is almost an action replay of the first one and that just tells me Crosby has learned nothing. My guess is Carol will try and drag it out but there’s enough evidence over a period of time now that he’s not going to improve or adjust.

If Barnsley wanted to they could top the 7 easily. I’ve been reluctant to get to this point as I do believe in giving managers time but enough is enough now. It’s the same errors every week and they show no sign of learning from them or adjusting to them.

It was dismal but a point is better than none. I did feel a bit for Loft when people were cheering when he went off, he actually did put himself about and seemed to win most his aerial contests albeit never in key areas. Thought Debrah was doing what he could but he can’t do everything by himself.
Massey some of his crossing was laughable. Given we had Steve Guppy in attendance today some of that was insult to him, he should have been removed sooner. Also not to go all VFIA but certainly today and other performances also this season Smith is becoming a liability.

The FA are going to order this replayed. This is armed robbery.
Dick Turpin at least had the decency to wear a mask.

<ovf censored> hell that is the most undeserved goal we’ve scored in years. Will take it every day though.

Doesn’t that just say everything. Wilson on for 5 seconds and has our first shot on target.

This is actually worse than Cheltenham. Just pathetic.

Get Baylee DiPepa on with Willo. Need something different just have some sort of spark.

That’s embarrassing defending. Finally paid the price.

Great shot Loft if it was Rugby. At least it’s an attempt I guess.

Grant on for Sang. Personally would have taken off Massey and put Sang on his natural side.

January Transfers and Rumours

No two ways about it. Realistically there isn’t going to be a like for like replacement we can bring in. Personally if it was my call I’d go with Alfie in that deeper role, he was pinging it around beautifully in that Barnsley game so maybe that’s the way to go. Be interesting how this affects say Conlons expected departure too.
Fair play to Sheff U, at least they’ve been up front so we can get a head start on things in the January window so no excuses for us like it was a last minute recall. But good luck to Oli, been a genuine pleasure seeing him play for us.
